📣 Data Collection for a Meta-Analysis on Pain of Payment 📣 With Cait Lamberton from The Wharton School and Farnoush Reshadi from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, we are excited to announce a new meta-analysis project in consumer behavior and marketing focused on Pain of Payment (PoP). Our primary aim is to explore the definitive impact of different payment methods, particularly cash versus cards, on PoP. Additionally, our study will investigate various covariates and delve into the methods of measuring PoP. If you have conducted research that measures PoP, regardless of the scale used (single question, multi-question, face scale, etc.), we would love to hear from you. We are currently collecting datasets, both published and unpublished, to include in our meta-analysis (over 5,000 participants' data collected so far… and more to come!). Our SNAP Shopper Scorecard highlights how retailer selection and spending differs between SNAP and non-SNAP households. 💲 SNAP shoppers spend an average of $740 on groceries monthly (+20% vs. non-SNAP shoppers), shop an average of 6.4 retailers each month for groceries (vs. 5.9), and spend an average of $21.56 per grocery trip (-13%). 🏬 In the 12M period ending 7/31/24, Walmart captured 25.8% of SNAP shoppers’ annual grocery spend. 🛒 In the 12M period ending 7/31/24, the top retailers for SNAP grocery purchases were Walmart (94.3% of SNAP shoppers shopped), Dollar Tree (78.4%), Target (60.5%), Amazon (51.8%), and Kroger (49.9%).
