“When you look in the mirror, you’d better love what you see!” This Emmy acceptance speech speech by Sheryl Lee Ralph and the one by Niecy Nash are powerful reminders as women, we need to put self-love and acceptance on a recurring loop throughout our days. Practice it. Absorb it. Repeat. As a leader, and one who is the first female executive at my company, it’s not always easy to navigate the male dominated establishment, but remember you’re there for a reason, your contribution is valuable and it’s okay to push for what you want, when it’s backed by evidence and experience. https://lnkd.in/gAG2gC72

With only 3.4% of APS employees identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, it's crucial to underscore the importance of platforms that unite First Nations people. These forums are not just events; they're catalysts for empowerment, dialogue, and leadership that echo the need for inclusivity and representation. The First Nations Women in Leadership Summit in Meanjin (Brisbane) on 22 & 23 May 2024, alongside the First Nations Leadership and Allyship Summit in Ngunnawal Country (Canberra) from 30 April to 1 May 2024, serve as pivotal gatherings. They bring to the forefront the resilience, wisdom, and leadership of First Nations communities, amplifying voices that are often marginalised. Highlighting the significance of such assemblies, a Director from NDIS once reflected: "When you bring Indigenous people together, it fills people's cups and it's a safe place to talk about our challenges, barriers, and leadership journey." This sentiment encapsulates the essence of these summits - they're more than meetings; they're sanctuaries for shared experiences and mutual growth. We're privileged to spotlight trailblazers like Cathy Freeman, whose Olympic legacy continues to inspire beyond the track, and Professor Marcia Langton, whose advocacy and intellect pave the way for crucial conversations on Indigenous rights and leadership. Join us in celebrating the power and potential of First Nations leadership at these summits. By coming together, we not only honour the contributions of First Nations people but also forge a path towards a more equitable and inclusive future. You can check out a video and both agendas here: https://lnkd.in/gdaS8B63 If you are a First Nations person I would love to connect and if you are an aspiring ally please share this with your network. #FirstNationsLeadership #WomenInLeadership #Allyship #Empowerment #Reconciliation #closingthegap

🌟 Reflecting on an Inspiring Evening at the Black Business Council Gala Dinner 🌟 As the co-chair of the Türkiye-South Africa Business Council, I had the privilege to attend the Black Business Council Gala Dinner on 30 April alongside esteemed leaders, including President Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Black Business Council, Mr. Elias Monage, CEO of the Black Business Council, Mr. Kganki Matabane, National Officer bearers of the BBC, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni Minister in the Presidency of South Africa, Directors-General, Turkish Ambassador Ayşegül Kandaş, Representatives of the business community and guests. The vibrant atmosphere and enthusiastic participation highlighted the importance of this yearly event. ⭐️ This Gala theme resonated with me: Celebrating 30 Years of Democracy: The theme resonates deeply with me. It's a testament to how far SA has come and the incredible strides made in transforming its economic landscape. As leaders in these councils, we recognize the role we play in fostering economic growth, and promoting business opportunities within our collective economy. 🌍💼 Honoring Business Legends: We paid tribute to Dr. Sam Motsuenyane, a pioneer in economic empowerment. Partnership and Collaboration: Our strong partnership with the Black Business Council fosters collaboration to address challenges, and create meaningful change. Together, we hope to build stronger economies for all stakeholders. 👥💡 Looking Ahead: It's crucial to address challenges such as unemployment, energy crises, and infrastructure issues through specific strategies and solutions, setting concrete targets for economic transformation and inclusive growth. Incorporating success stories of thriving black-owned businesses, fostering global partnerships, and emphasizing youth entrepreneurship and digital transformation will strengthen South Africa's economic vision and commitment to an equitable society.📈🔍 Green Industrialization: President Ramaphosa's focus on green industrialization is noteworthy, creating new opportunities. 🌿💰 In conclusion, the Gala symbolized resilience and unity within the business community, especially in the black business community. I was honored to represent Türkiye Business Council and work towards a prosperous future.
