Often overshadowed by stigma, finding mental health help can be difficult, leaving individuals feeling unheard and alone. We have some VERY exciting news! Alhumdulillah, Nisa Foundation is expanding our Helpline to 16 hours a day, from 8 AM to Midnight ET, to meet the growing demands of our diverse community. Over the past year, we have seen a 36% increase in calls and a 500% increase in calls related to Islamophobia. Unfortunately, we miss 100 calls per week! That's 100 women and girls who needed help, were in crisis, struggled with their mental health, or simply needed guidance and support from a trustworthy source. This is what Nisa Helpline is here for. We are the only culturally responsive counselling helpline for Muslim women and girls in North America (and beyond!)—so if we aren't able to answer the calls, who will? We cannot afford to let any more calls go unanswered. This expansion is our commitment to being there for you when you need us most. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Our entire office recently underwent suicide training, as mental health is a top priority for us. There are many issues and difficulties around homelessness before it even reaches the stage of homelessness. Breaking down barriers around mental health and emotional well-being is crucial. Luckily, because we work in a humanistic approach and apply trauma-informed practices, all our staff have experience in suicide training and building trusting working relationships with our residents. This is essential in establishing the trust and rapport needed for a person to feel safe and secure in their journey out of homelessness. But this doesn't just apply to our residents; it's important to know the signs to look out for if you have a feeling someone might need help. If you need help, need to talk to someone, or know someone who does, you can also find resources via @suicideprevention.uk, @papyrus_uk, @samaritanscharity, @mindcharity, and @iaspinfo. Free mental health support, 24/7, for everyone

Unfortunately, mental ill-health stigma is still present in 2024. We're committed to changing this by raising awareness and starting conversations about the mental health issues affecting Australians.   In 2022, 3,249 people died by suicide in Australia. This number motivates us to #pushforbetter mental health. My challenge (and team) complete 3,249 push-ups in 24 days to raise awareness and funds for mental health in Australia.   Im looking forward to Build better connections at work: Strengthen team bonds as you work towards this goal together. 🔹 **Domestic Abuse Against Men: A Challenge to Companies** 🔹 Week 3 & Men's Mental Health Awareness Week The topic of domestic abuse against men is far too ignored and not discussed enough. While amazing organizations such as MANKIND INITIATIVE and AMIS (Abused Men In Scotland) are fighting the good fight to bring it into the light, the world needs to join them in this battle. As an ex-CEO, I know firsthand that this kind of topic is not something discussed at work, not included in mental health kits, not raised in HR sessions, not placed in company handbooks. I want to help change that. So, I am launching a challenge to companies out there. **It’s simple:** 👇👇 Purchase copies of the books I have written on the subject (website in comments to order). Share these books with staff, gift them to local charities, or share them with others you think may benefit from them. The goal is to allow the most amount of men to get access to them that may need them. Send me a message on LinkedIn, via my website, or even just comment below saying "ordered." All proceeds from this challenge will go towards further awareness efforts and campaigns, and to support the victims of domestic abuse. I’ll post this same challenge weekly throughout June, along with an update on how it is going. I’ll tag new companies weekly to let them see the challenge, and I’ll share the companies that have taken part to date. I'd be happy to come and speak to any companies that want to learn more about this topic too. This is a massively important topic, and it’s time to give it the attention it deserves.
