In the eastern European country of Georgia, the authoritarian government has implemented the anti-free speech “Foreign Agents Law” to silence pro-freedom organizations. This law will force civil society organizations such as our partners to declare that they work on behalf of foreign governments—a lie meant to discredit them. This is an attempt by pro-Kremlin officials to suppress freedom of expression and stigmatize pro-freedom groups. Georgian citizens have been protesting the Foreign Agents Law, clashing with law enforcement and regularly facing attacks and propaganda from the government. Atlas Network continues to stand with our partners in Georgia in support of free speech, but we can only do it with the sustained generosity of our donor community.
