My research paper, coauthored with Prof. Aomar IBOURK, has been published in the *African Development Review* (Scopus Indexed Q1) 📚✨ 🌍 Abstract: Unveiling the evolving landscape of digital financial inclusion in African countries during the post-COVID-19 era. Examining factors influencing access and usage of digital financial services, we identified population segments facing increased exclusion due to the digital divide. 📊 Methodology: - Utilized a microlevel dataset of 29,042 adults from 29 countries. - Employed instrumental variable probit methodology. - Applied Principal Component Analysis to country-level data from 39 African countries. - Developed a Digital Financial Inclusion Index. 📈 Key Findings:  - Improvements in digital financial inclusion rankings for Kenya, Lesotho, and Botswana over the period 2014, 2017, and 2022. - Declines for Egypt, Sudan, Tunisia, and Niger, indicating limited access. - Certain groups, such as women and individuals with limited education and lower incomes, face obstacles. - Crucial factors: education level, labor market participation, access to technology, and internet infrastructure. 🤝 Practical Implications:  The representative nature of our study enhances its practical implications, guiding public policies and international institutions to accelerate digital financial inclusion in Africa. I spent the last three days (May 7th- 9th) immersing in a high-level policy engagement forum convened by the African Development Bank Group,the IFC - International Finance Corporation, Unitaid and the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking Healthcare Value Chain in Nigeria #PVAC. The Industry Engagement “Access to Health Innovation” Forum 2024 themed “Unlocking Healthcare Value Chains and Driving Investments Through Partnerships: Accelerating Equitable Access to Quality-Assured Products”, converged both local and international industry experts, government, manufacturing, development partners, policymakers, regulators, financiers, academia and thought leaders to discuss critical issues shaping local manufacturing of healthcare products in Africa. Sessions - Explored opportunities to leverage existing capabilities on the continent to build resilient sustainable value chain - Showcased best practices across industry and research partners on the continent to harvest learnings and identify opportunities for further development. - Presented perspectives from multiple financing stakeholders with an objective to promote collaboration across financing partners to unlock health product manufacturing value chains - Examined the challenges faced by industries and the opportunities to transform themselves. - Discussed innovative solutions and resilience including financing mechanisms. - Unpacked actionable steps towards catalyzing discovery and development efforts in Africa. - Discussed digitization, AI and market development opportunities that can be explored through collaboration to improve visibility into Africa’s market and address fragmented. - explored public private partnerships for creating and maintaining effective delivery of UHC systems.
