How do we get an effective pipeline of strong educators? You build them up skill by skill! Teacher residency programs are a proven strategy for developing highly effective teachers. As highlighted by the National Center for Teacher Residencies, these programs provide a year-long, immersive learning experience where new teachers are paired with veteran educators. This model allows our strongest teachers to model and coach new educators on the most effective teaching practices, mindsets, and beliefs. As a result, teacher residents gradually learn, practice, and implement key teaching moves in real-time. This hands-on approach not only supports their development but also enhances the learning and growth of scholars in classrooms.
