Efficiency in delivering new nuclear reactors (less than 80 months for construction) is key to enable funding of programs at competitive cost. Design maturity and completion, modularity, construction methods and comprehensive use of digital (document to data) are key success factors to be considered and developed.

Decarbonizing heat and power generation while enabling economic growth is one of the key questions in all regions today. While our research shows that the number of advanced nuclear technology initiatives has increased the most in North America and Europe (~90% and ~70% increase between 2021 and 2023, respectively), developments in China are also promising. China has been a key driver of global nuclear generation capacity development over the past decade. Although there is still a long way to go, with coal continuing to account for around 60% of China's electricity generation, China has set ambitious targets for the role of nuclear power in its energy mix. Their recent commissioning of the world’s first Gen IV nuclear reactor, built with 90% domestic parts, is years ahead of Western OEMs. In addition, China's ambitions to build over 100 additional reactors could make it one of the largest nuclear power producers globally. Read the first of our two-part report on China's nuclear energy goals for more insights and what the West can learn from China’s progress in this space. Nuclear energy has been a contentious topic for some time now, but as the case for nuclear's role in reducing the use of fossil fuels and enhancing energy security becomes increasingly clear, more EU leaders are recognising its necessity for a cleaner future. This was evident as the first-ever Nuclear Energy Summit was held in Brussels in March, where 30 global leaders met to promote nuclear energy! Moving forward, bridging the gap between proponents and opponents of nuclear power will require thoughtful dialogue, evidence-based policymaking, and a holistic approach to energy security and sustainability. The greater the awareness of nuclear energy's power in addressing our energy challenges, the sooner we can move the needle. This is why I highly encourage you all to watch Oliver Stone's groundbreaking documentary that I am Executive Producer of, "Nuclear Now" to better understand its true potential. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dukB8sC9 #NuclearEnergy #EnergySecurity #Decarbonisation
