Amid the height of the Israel-Hamas conflict, several technology leaders were called for active military service. I tracked down and uncovered the journey of a Chief Information Security Officer in Israel, Liran Sheinbox simultaneously serving his military duty, ensuring business continuity at his company Playtika and safeguarding it from threat actors. This signifies a shift as #cybersecurity emerges as a fourth battleground in modern warfare. As global volatility increases, this story serves as a pioneering example of how CXOs will navigate the complex intersection of technology, their professional responsibilities, and the realities of conflict. As the world becomes more volatile this story will be one of the first examples of how CXOs will navigate the intersection of technology, their jobs and war. Not only do we need a Cyber Force but it should be created alongside and integrated with an Influence Force that would focus on joint operations with a Cyber Force to create compelling and culturally relevant narratives, exploit domestic narrative rifts in enemy states, and combat disinformation worldwide.

A very insightful text about the problems and challenges faced by the US Armed Forces in the context of sustaining capabilities and effective operate in cyberspace. Decision-makers around the world will sooner or later face these types of challenges. Fortunately, Poland had this in mind from the very beginning of the work on creating the Cyberspace Defense Forces, and today we are in a much better position.

Gen. Timothy Haugh testified that USCYBERCOM is “laser focused” on the strategic and operational challenges that the PRC creates in cyberspace. The command is intently supporting the U.S. Indo Pacific Command and commander Adm. John Aquilino, and providing the tools that the command needs. In addition, a collaboration between USCYBERCOM and the NSA, called the China Outcomes Group, is meant to provide intelligence insights, cybersecurity improvements and operational outcomes for joint force commanders and the country. https://lnkd.in/gZk6hUEa

Food for Thought: It is easy to follow the line of reasoning here. I have to ask, “What is happening with all the other organizations also addressing cybersecurity, specifically: DHS and CISA, NSA, CIS, NIST, CERT, IC3, and we can go on-and-on? What exactly will this new military command do and with what authority to act and respond? You have to wonder is this defensive and/or offensive, and to what extent? How much will ML and AI play into this? Just saying, “It’s food for thought!”

Hybrid warfare, a blend of conventional, irregular, and cyber tactics, is reshaping modern conflicts by integrating military force with non-military strategies like disinformation, economic coercion, and cyberattacks. This multi-dimensional approach complicates traditional defense measures, as state and non-state actors exploit vulnerabilities across political, technological, and societal domains. As nations grapple with these complex threats, addressing hybrid warfare requires not only military preparedness but also robust cybersecurity, intelligence cooperation, and strategic communication to counter adversaries' influence operations effectively. #HybridWarfare #CyberSecurity #ModernConflicts #StrategicCommunication #NationalSecurity #DefenseInnovation #InformationWarfare #Geopolitics #CyberDefense
