JOIN US and truly make positive impact! #returntorural #RuralIsRad #ReimagineRural ***************** Sterling native Jordan Suter believes being involved in the community is the way to bring about change. Suter left Sterling after high school, playing baseball in college while pursuing his degree in biology, and then spent five and a half years as a forensic scientist. It was family ties that inspired his desire to return to his hometown – Suter is the fourth generation on his mom’s side to live here, and the third on his dad’s side – but he didn’t know what he’d be able to do for a career, given his background in biology. Then he got an job offer from Thrivent, which he was familiar with because his family had worked with the financial planning firm. “I was really thankful to be able to do that, because I had always wanted to be around my family and serve this community, but had never really had the opportunity,” he said. Suter moved back about two and a half years ago and jumped right into getting as involved within the community as possible. His own passion for the community shines through when he talks about how he would encourage others to consider living and working in Sterling. He said he’d encourage those from the Front Range and other urban areas to come visit the community and see what it’s about, because he feels that they might have misconceptions about rural Colorado based on clichés that don’t capture the generous spirit of the people here. And for those who moved away but might be open to returning, like him, his plea is more direct: “We need you out here. This community needs more young people… that care and want to make a difference, and you can only make a difference if you get involved.” He is thankful for the opportunities to have an impact on future generations through coaching as well, saying, “Being able to coach high school kids and show them that it is cool to leave, do your thing and go learn about the world, go experience some stuff – there’s nothing wrong with that. But coming home, there’s nothing wrong with that. You can be a good person and care about your community and just serve; that’s the whole point.” “I just want to leave a mark, and hopefully it’s a positive one,” he said.
Honored to be nominated as a “Rising Star in the Northeast Colorado Community”! Better to be rising than falling, as they say. #Recognition #Community #NortheastColorado

Did you know that children who have spent time in foster care are 3.5x more likely to experience PTSD like that of a war veteran? Placement stability is an integeral part of helping mitigate the affects of trauma children in the foster care system experience. Once healthy stability is achieved, children can begin the process of learning how to form healthy trust-based attachements. This is vital to their healing journey. Keeping sibling groups together, whenever possible, is a monumental part of lessening the overal impact that the trauma of removal can cause for a child. Think about it, even if a child is in a desperate situation and removal is a necessary, they are still being ripped away from all that is familiar to them. For children, routine and control are two extremely important components for healthy development. When children are able to enter into the unknown space of the Child Welfare System and navigate it with their sibling, the trauma that comes with removal can have less severe lasting affects. They have eachother and intimate connection and that gives them a sense of control and safety. I am so excited to see that Christian Bale has discovered this reality and has a passion to help make it possible for siblings to remain together during foster care placement.
Shoutout to Christian Bale! After 16 years, he finally broke ground on a project close to his heart: building homes and a community center for foster siblings to stay together. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to creating a brighter future for these children! 📹: The Associated Press

Today, on September 30th, we honor the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day is a solemn reminder of the children who never returned home from residential schools and a tribute to the Survivors, their families, and communities. Recognizing the tragic history and the ongoing impact of residential schools is a critical step in the reconciliation process. It’s a moment to reflect, learn, and commit to building a future rooted in understanding and healing. #TruthAndReconciliation #EveryChildMatters #IndigenousHistory #HealingAndHope https://wix.to/zKSqMKD

Today, we honour the survivors, their families, and the generations impacted by the residential school system. This day serves as a powerful reminder to reflect on our shared history, the truths of the past, and our collective responsibility to walk the path of reconciliation. At ClearWater, we believe this day should be one of reflection - a moment to listen, learn, and acknowledge the experiences of Indigenous communities. Together, we can foster understanding, healing, and meaningful change. Let’s all take this day to pause, reflect, and commit to making a difference in the journey toward reconciliation. #EveryChildMatters #TruthAndReconciliation

Transparency and trust can be compromised during pastoral transitions. But it doesn't have to be this way. At Pastoral Transitions, we believe that transparency and kindness should guide the process, answering questions for the community, and maintaining trust. By providing a roadmap for transitions, we strive to ensure that the church's values are upheld, even in challenging times. This fosters a culture where everyone truly matters and where transitions are managed with grace and compassion. Join us in our mission. #KingdomOutplacement #TransparencyInTransitions

Like all other forms of wealth in the U.S., philanthropic wealth can be directly traced back to industries of extraction and exploitation, including slavery, stolen land from Indigenous people, and the systemic undervaluing of “women’s work." To "reconstruct our economic, political, and social status quo," as Garrison references, or facilitate a #JustTransition from an extractive economy to a regenerative economy, I invite #philanthropy to investigate the sources of their wealth, and take action to intervene in the systems of harm they are contributing to, and repairing relationships with those who have been harmed. https://lnkd.in/g--JyjG3

Great read looks like what’s happening in all are city’s lately has been happening quite a while. How is it as Americans we allow this to continue over and over again? This was over ten years ago I believe. You think there’s been any real change there? How much has been spent by both sides in this Hemp vs Cannabis fight on Lobbyists? How much did I just see on tv are we giving away to other countries 90 Billion! Billions that will translate to zero help for the kids in this country. As a society I think it’s time to get the priorities in order. There’s not one single soul who believes we should fund war over kids. So since I know that to be true how are we allowing this to continue? Could it be as simple as we don’t have a say so? And what we believe or think matters not at all to those in charge of the real power aka money? Who wouldn’t cut 500. Illion off the 90billion to help kids like this raise your hands please I need to know who you are.
Very few people in our country have lived in, or witnessed third world level poverty. Below is a news clip of a 12 year old boy growing up on the Pine Ridge Reservation. It might shock some of you how these kids are living. It it the poorest community in the entire U.S. with the lowest life expectancy. My dad is Oglala, but left there to go to the military and later became a fireman in Bozeman Montana. He always wanted to move back to the Rez (South Dakota) because he loved living in the country there, and after he retired he immediately left Montana to move back and raise cattle. I was lucky enough to grow up in Portland with my mom, but every summer as a kid and for a year of high school I lived on the Pine Ridge Reservation. I’m so thankful for the time I spent there because my friends and family there taught me how to not be a superficial city kid. I am only a fraction Lakota, but watching them struggle while I was fighting a huge corporation that wanted to own their cannabis market is one of the main reasons when I got on LinkedIn I talked so much trash. LinkedIn was the first place I felt that I could speak to corporate cannabis directly. That same corporation I got kicked off the Rez is on LinkedIn constantly talking about social equity. Virtue signaling at its finest.
