Today we celebrate National Nonprofit Day! Let's take a moment to recognize the enormous impact that all non-profits make in our community. The nonprofit sector impacts every resident across Massachusetts. According to the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network (MNN), there are more than 38,000 nonprofits in our state, that are committed to educating us, keeping us healthy, supporting our most vulnerable populations, and caring for our cultural, historical, and environmental treasures. Our nonprofit sector is also a major economic driver in our state, employing nearly 20% of the state's workforce. A major thank you to all nonprofit workers for their dedication and life-changing work! As a nonprofit and a coalition member of Massachusetts’ 12 Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs), we pioneer the most promising, leading-edge ways that help victims of child abuse receive the best possible care. After a rigorous application and selection process, Carpe Diem Arts has been successfully chosen to be a partner organization of Spur Local, formerly known as Catalogue for Philanthropy. Spur Local says, "All nonprofit partners are chosen by residents who live or work in the Greater Washington region. As part of our annual review process, these 170+ volunteers look beyond the traditional metrics of evaluation and address questions that people don’t always think to ask or have the time to assess. What need is a nonprofit meeting? Are its finances sound? What impact does it make on our local communities, and how does it involve communities in their work? Through this democratic decision-making process, we then determine the critical local nonprofits that join our network, and enter a four-year partnership with us."
