Norse Atlantic Airways has decided that it will not fly its full Boeing 787 Dreamliner until 2025 after opting to extend subleases on four aircraft. Norse, a Norwegian low-cost, long-haul airline, announced on February 12, 2024, that it will extend the subleases on four of its 15 787 Dreamliners. Three Boeing 787-8s have been extended by up to one year from the original return date and will now be redelivered to Norse between the end of March and the end of May 2025. One of only 27 Boeing 737-9 Max aircraft currently cleared for flight paid a visit to Heathrow airport today, as all versions fitted with door plugs remain grounded pending an FAA AD. This is one of four Max 9s operated by Icelandair, all of which have deactivated mid-cabin exit doors (MEDs) rather than plugs. This makes them exempt from the grounding order implemented after the Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 accident on 5 January. Other 737-9 operators with exempt fleets include SCAT, Flydubai, Lion Air, Corendon Dutch Airlines, and Air Tanzania. Additionally, eight of Copa’s 29 aircraft are unaffected as their MEDs are deactivated rather than plugged. With the US Federal Aviation Administration now “encouraging” Boeing 737-900ER operators to inspect the plugged mid-cabin exit doors (MEDs) as part of the ongoing investigation into the Alaska Airlines 737-9 Max accident, Cirium data and analysis indicates that the alert potentially affects some 345 aircraft in service with US operators. A further 30 -900ERs with international operators have been identified as being fitted with plugs. The major 737-900ER operators with plugged MEDs are US-based (in-service fleet): United Airlines: 136 Delta Air Lines: 130 (excluding 30 ex-Lion Air -900ERs with deactivated MEDs rather than plugs) Alaska Airlines: 79 International -900ER operators with plugged MEDs include: Turkish Airlines: 15 El Al: 8 Korean Air: 6 Of the 497 737-900ERs currently in service, 78 have higher-density cabin layouts which require the MEDs to be active, so do not require inspections. At least 44 -900ERs currently in service have been identified as having MEDs deactivated rather than plugged and are also currently unaffected by the safety alert. A quick overview of how to identify the different MED configurations in service on the 737-9 and -900ER: https://lnkd.in/e9Nps-dF

The year is 1965 and Lufthansa German Airlines becomes the first European operator of Boeing's legendary trijet, the 727. In this photograph, taken at Palma de Mallorca Airport in the Balearic Islands archipelago, a new 727-30, "D-ABIL," is seen parked on a hard-stand between flights in early September of that year. Marketed as "Europa Jets," these very early birds wore this short-lived mid-1960's livery (which, in my opinion, was quite attractive). Notice the lack of both exit and emergency exit window outlines that would soon be mandatory on all airliners in Europe and the United States. Later the West-German flag carrier would also operate a sizable fleet of stretched 727-230's, flying them into the mid-1990's. Interested in legendary Pan Am? WiFi Installation Did Not Involve Door Of Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 With the world's aviation spotlight firmly on the recent Alaska Airlines incident, various organizations that have worked on the aircraft have reaffirmed if their work related to anything near the 'plug door.' Aviation services firm AAR, contracted by the carrier to perform 2KU modification to enable inflight WiFi, noted it did not perform any maintenance near that part during its time onboard the aircraft in question - N704AL.
