Here is the hierarchy to investigate the RO membrane irregularities step by step. Post# 75: Step#1: Mechanical Evaluation: (Described in previous post.) Step#2: Projection and Design Analysis: (Described in previous post.) Step#3: Normalized Data Assessment: In this step we need to assess the normalized data and consider what is the reason behind irregularities. Below given table shows the common trend in b/w normalized Flow, salt passage and pressure difference. Further more the CIP cleaning trends and frequency along with the normalized Flow will show us that is CIP was performed properly or not. CIP cleaning frequency must be similar with the passage of time and the system must recover near to original condition. Step#4: Water Analysis In this step we must consider two important things, first is the detailed water analysis twice a year and cross check them with initial design parameters. Second is the mass balance across the feed, reject and permeate. #Corrosion #CUI (Corrosion Under insulation) management by TIC (Thermal insulation Coatings) Lot of material has been published on Corrosion Under Insulation. It has been a menace specially in high rainfall, coastal areas. We have developed several strategies and now a new API Standard is also available on CUI. Even after developing Inspection programs specifically for CUI, we have been observed the need for FFS evaluation of corroded components which exposes the gaps in existing CUI handling approaches. CUI management becomes more difficult if surfaces operates under thermal cycles, wet and dry (sweating cycles) or immersion conditions. We can manage CUI by using TIC Coatings. What are TIC? A TIC is a coating which can be applied in higher thickness and it can act as coating as well as insulation.
