This week, the EMF launched a new report, Building Prosperity: Unlocking the Potential of a Nature-Positive, Circular Economy for Europe. The report shows that circular economy can generate substantial economic, environmental, and social benefits for European businesses and citizens by 2035.
As a teacher of Circular Economy at higher education, I'd like to emphasize the importance of promoting circular economy awareness, knowledge and skills among students at universities and business schools, that can prepare students to contribute to achieving Europe's economic, environmental, and social goals.
In my classes I try to incorporate the following aspects:
🔹 Job Market Demand: Prepare students for emerging careers in sustainable industries.
🔹 Business Opportunities: Encourage the creation of startups focused on sustainable products and services.
🔹 Innovation Skills: Foster problem-solving and innovation skills crucial for sustainable practices.
🔹 Cutting-edge Research: Drive academic research in sustainable technologies and circular economy practices.
🔹 Leadership in Sustainability: Position students to become global leaders in sustainability and circular economy initiatives.
🔹 Informed Choices: Enable students to make purchasing decisions that support circular economy principles.
🔹 Social Responsibility: Instill a sense of responsibility towards reducing waste and conserving resources.
🔹 Environmental Stewardship: Equip students to make informed decisions that support sustainability.
