Children should be free to learn, play, and simply be kids - not forced into labor that robs them of their childhood. Yet an estimated 160 million children worldwide are trapped in child labor, many in hazardous conditions. As a global community, we must take decisive action to #EndChildLabor and restore the fundamental rights and dignity of these young, vulnerable lives. It will take coordinated efforts at every level - from policy reform to community initiatives - to tackle the complex economic and social factors driving this injustice. Let's be a force for change and stand up for a world where all children can thrive. Their potential, their dreams, their futures depend on it. #ChildRights #HumanRights #SocialJustice #EndExploitation #ProtectChildhood #GlobalChange

Habitat Forum (INHAF) invites you for a webinar on Child and City: Are, Cities as they Grow and Develop, Fair to Children? on 22nd August 2024 at 6 PM IST. INHAF's webinar series explores cities from various perspectives like low-cost housing, water supply, and energy. The upcoming webinar will focus on evaluating cities through the lens of children's rights. Beginning with Eglantyne Jebb’s activism in 1919, the child rights movement culminated in the UNCRC in 1989. India ratified the convention in 1992 and parallelly formulated policies like the Juvenile Justice Act and RTE Act in alignment with UNCRC principles. Despite significant strides like the establishment of ChildLine, challenges persist, with urbanization impacting children negatively. Cities lack child-friendly infrastructure, posing risks. It's imperative to prioritize children, involving citizens in planning for a better future. It's time to act with empathy and expertise to ensure a safer, more inclusive environment for children. Children’s rights are human rights❤️ Children have the right to survive, learn, and be protected, to have their voices taken into account, and to influence the laws and policies which affect their lives and futures🌟 But right now, escalating war and violence, and the devastating impact of the climate crisis mean, life for children is extremely tough. Children’s rights are being eroded and neglected. Inequality is growing. ❌1 in 6 children are growing up in conflict ❌400 million children of primary school age cannot read or write ❌12 million girls marry before the age of 18 every year ❌1 million child deaths each year are linked to hunger ❌ 1 billion children are at extreme risk because of the climate crisis This is a CHILD RIGHTS CRISIS. At Save the Children, standing up for children’s rights is our history, present, and future. We’ve been helping children realise their rights for 100 years, and we won't stop now. “All children can learn when provided with proper support. Let’s invest in our children and teach them — thoughtfully, effectively, compassionately — to read.” Executive Director, Taal Hasak-Lowy had an Op-Ed published in the Chicago Sun-Times today. Read it at https://lnkd.in/gyQ-62qJ This Op-Ed explores the impact that literacy has on a child’s life and what we can do to address the illiteracy crisis. There are no quick fixes to this crisis. It is only through individualized, in-depth, and long-term support that we will empower children facing the greatest obstacles to thrive. #nomatterwhat #literacy #literacymatters

The CEP published a new book "Equity for Children in the United States"! In this new book, the team discusses that all children deserve access to the conditions and opportunities needed to thrive, including unbiased accessible healthcare and high-quality learning opportunities; safe, toxin-free communities and stable housing; access to nutritious meals; and secure, warm, available, and loving caregivers. Historic and contemporary injustices in US society have created inequities in opportunity and access to resources for Black, Latine, Asian, American Indian and Alaska Native, and other children of color, children with disabilities, children in poverty, and other marginalized children; these have contributed to stark disparities across child development outcomes. The way a society cares for and nurtures its children is a direct reflection of its values, priorities, and sense of justice. Mandela’s words remind us that fostering and supporting children is not just an individual act of kindness but a societal responsibility. By nurturing the next generation, we are actively shaping the future and moving toward a more equitable and just society. When we invest in children's well-being, ensuring they have access to education, love, and opportunities, we lay the foundation for a fairer world, where everyone has the chance to thrive. #SupportTheNextGeneration #InvestInChildren #ChildrenAreTheFuture #SocietyAndChildren #NurturingYoungMinds #MandelaWisdom #EqualOpportunitiesForAll #FutureLeaders #JusticeAndEquity #CareForChildren #ChildhoodMatters #BuildingABetterWorld #LoveAndOpportunity #EducationForAll #CreatingABrightFuture #chrysaliscareinitiative
