Around 50 per cent of people opt out of a fundraising call so ActionAid UK needed to find a solution to reduce its call centre campaign costs. The solution Cymba created was a bespoke SMS service that sent a different message to supporters if they opted out of fundraising calls.  Not only did it reduce costs but it also enabled the charity to focus call centre efforts on meaningful dialogue with supporters they could turn into long-term donors. There’s a common myth that hospice care is fully funded by the NHS. Unfortunately that isn’t true - they mainly rely on fundraising and the generosity of the public in the local community. It currently costs around 1.6 billion a year to run UK hospices, around a third of that cost is covered by the government, but the rest is made up from donations, legacies and various fund raising activities. It’s time to increase state funding and raise awareness to ensure local hospices can continue providing essential care to our communities. Examples can include: Volunteering in the community Helping a neighbor Donating items Today I donated blankets and jackets to one of my favorite local non-profit organizations that helps individuals in need 24/7. It felt good to get items out of our house that the kids grew out of/we no longer need but that can be of help to others in the community.
