The first "Healthy Ageing Tech Show 2024" is grandly held by the Health Policy Council at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 from August 2 (Friday) to August 4 (Sunday). On the first day of the opening, it attracted a large crowd, including government agencies, medical institutions, and elderly citizens. AREC, in collaboration with the National Taiwan University Hospital Hsin-Chu Branch, showcased the "Hybrid Telemedicine Solution" at the event, attracting many professionals and the public to experience it. AREC Hybrid Telemedicine Solution combines the hospital's existing registration system with on-site registration processes, integrating physical outpatient services with video conferencing. This allows medical staff to serve both on-site patients and remote patients simultaneously without significantly changing their operating habits. In addition to providing video conference, this solution allows doctors to transmit examination report images to remote patients and annotate them for clearer communication. Moreover, NTU Hospital's booth showcases many innovative medical services and applications, demonstrating achievements in elderly healthcare. Welcome to visit and experience the latest advancements in medical field! I was lucky enough to attend #DHF24 - the Digital Health Festival 2024 in Melbourne, with WA consumer and health professional colleagues. With eight concurrent streams and mostly 30-45 minute presentations, it was definitely overwhelming. At the entrance was the stand where I took the opportunity to put the message there about the importance of consumer involvement. It was not a common idea and presentations mentioning co-design usually meant different health and government professionals collaborating. #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs What has stayed with me: 🎯 Dr Wonchul Cha's presentation about the Samsung Medical Centre in Korea, especially how the Patient Reported Outcomes surveys, which are integrated into their electronic medical record achieve an 80-90% response rate. They are a seamless part of the clinical appointment, and keep patient wellbeing right on top of the agenda. 🎯 Meeting up with consumer advocates including Mehmet Kavlakoglou, Harry Iles-Mann, Ricky Spencer. 🎯 Talking to HIMSS staff and filling in a missing piece of the PROMS puzzle in my mind - how they need to be integrated into an EMR and used as part of care to get the return rate that really tracks patient outcomes (see Samsung example above) 🎯 Listening to a CSIRO presentation on the work they're doing regarding consent processes and how to have ongoing consent facilitated when our data is used for research - consumers aren't actively involved yet, but hoping they will be soon... 🎯 Panel discussion on how AI is supporting clinical decision making where one speaker suggested that over time, clinical trials may not be approved unless they have already gone through AI as this will reduce potential harm to patients. 🎯 I don't need to feel total despair that each state and territory is doing its own thing regarding electronic medical records. Interoperability is still going to be technically possible. It is the number one consumer priority! The key challenges we have in relation to digital health are actually cultural - but the Interoperability work at the federal level mandating interoperability is helpful Some reflections: 🤔 What would it be like to have a consumer-co-led digital health festival with a focus on research translation, rather than research commercialisation? Some presentations were very sales-y... 😞 Most states and territories have implemented their EMRs without significant or meaningful consultation with consumers, and even in some cases clinicians. 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 Not so in WA! And after the conference the WA #Budget2024 announcements confirmed that WA will be funded for the next phase of developing an EMR. 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉We have an EMR Consumer Charter in WA and a Consumer Reference Group working with the WA Health Team. We are upskilling ourselves and reflecting on what are key consumer priorities for an EMR. See here for more details: https://lnkd.in/gDZcrBeF

Introduction to Telemedicine What is Telemedicine: Definition: Telemedicine provides medical services at a distance through information and communication technologies, such as video calls, mobile applications, and remote monitoring devices. This approach allows interaction between patients and healthcare professionals without needing a physical encounter (The Tech Report) (JungleWorks). History and Evolution: Telemedicine has evolved from its beginnings in the 1960s, with telephone connections for remote medical consultations. Its adoption accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic, due to the need for social distancing and reducing in-person exposure (The Tech Report) (JungleWorks). Market Growth: The global telemedicine market is expected to reach $460 billion by 2030, driven by increasing demand for accessible healthcare services, adoption of advanced technologies, and an aging population (The Tech Report). Significant experience advancing patient-centric digital innovation and transformation in the healthcare industry
It is always exciting to see a new research getting published when you had some small part in making it happen. This Time, thanks to Dr. Motti Haimi, MD, PhD, MHA it is about telemedicine adoption among the elderly in Israel, and I'm excited to share some key insights and opportunities the research uncovered. While most elderly participants recognized the benefits of telemedicine, such as improved accessibility and reduced COVID-19 exposure, they also highlighted several barriers impeding adoption: ✔️ Intrinsic barriers: Lack of confidence in quality of online consultations, preference for in-person interactions, technological difficulties, physiological and literacy challenges ✔️ Extrinsic barriers: Limited technology access and unfriendly platforms from the healthcare system However, The research also underscored telemedicine's unique opportunities for this population: 🤝 Providing social/mental support, especially crucial during isolation periods 🏠 Enabling continuity of care through regular remote monitoring for chronic conditions 😷 Ensuring care provision while minimizing viral exposure, as proven vital during COVID-19 To leverage these opportunities, we must address barriers through: 📝 Simplifying infrastructure with senior-friendly platforms 📚 Providing training by medical staff and informational materials 👪 Involving caregivers for technological assistance As you all already know, I'm passionate about implementing patient-centric digital solutions. This study reinforces my belief that by understanding the patient needs (in this case the elderly patients), we can bridge the digital divide and ensure equitable and useful virtual care access. link to the full article -> https://lnkd.in/dvvRv6BB #Telemedicine #DigitalHealth #AgedCare #HealthcareInnovation #PatientCentric

Alongside development and innovation, and the unification of standards for private and public eHealth practices, I was thrilled to witness the inclusion of Preventive Medicine themes. Any organization that fails to see the value and sustainability of Preventive Medicine in our times is short-sighted. Telehealth, Telemedicine, and Virtual Care offer a vast and rich field for Preventive Medicine, that is worth exploring beyond the controversial topic of how value-driven approaches are also profit-friendly #MENATHE24 #primarycare #telemedicine #ISfTeH #virtualcare
