Westbrook Elementary School was a project with a challenging timeline. Through effective collaboration, the team completed the project, meeting all design, schedule, and cost requirements while also creating a sustainable space with an environment conducive to modern education and community involvement. The Structural Engineers Association of Central California (SEAOCC) recognized the project's merit, naming it the Award of Excellence in the New Construction (Medium) category. Congratulations Degenkolb Engineers and Clark/Sullivan Construction!

Top Down Foundations Top down foundations are a great tool to avoid distress of adjacent buildings. Wexler Structural Engineers designed several such projects in the past and with good results. It is a method to provide temporary support to adjacent buildings before excavations and before dewatering take place; that is, before distressing adjacent buildings. Top down foundations are designed by the engineer of record and is an integral part of the new building.

The University of South Florida has started the process of selecting a new construction company to build the Bulls’ on-campus football stadium — with, perhaps, a slightly faster timeline. The Bulls posted a document soliciting bids, allowing construction management companies to submit proposals for the 35,000-seat, $340 million stadium.
