Dung beetles🪲 are attracted 🤤 by the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted by the dung💩. 🤔 We wondered .....whether the residues of antiparasitic products like ivermectine may affect the VOCs and therefore the attraction power of the cattle dung. We used the species Ateuchetus cicatricosus to confront this question. The answer was NO! 👎🏻 You can find more info in our latest paper: https://lnkd.in/dCzMNVTj We continue investigating the relationships between the residues of antiparasitic drugs and the decline of the coprophagous communities in our project Greencattle!

#PubAlert 📢 Streptococcus thermophilus is widely used as a starter culture in cheese, yogurt, and other dairy products. Currently, two taxonomic names Streptococcus thermophilus and Streptococcus salivarius subsp. thermophilus, are used in scientific research, regulatory management, and related industries, creating confusion. Recent taxonomy changes have confirmed the name Streptococcus thermophilus and given synonym status to Streptococcus salivarius subsp. Thermophilus, which is now its own species, different from Streptococcus salivarius. This IDF position paper confirms the use of the name Streptococcus thermophilus and brings clarification for use and labelling of this culture. 🔗 Download here: https://bit.ly/495df9X #WeAreDairy #ProudToBeDairy

I am delighted to share our contribution to the book "Petroleum Microbiology - The Role of Microorganisms in the Transition to Net Zero Energy", just published by CRC Press. The chapter titled "Microbial Control and Sustainability: Can Managing Microorganisms Improve the Environmental Footprint of Oil and Gas Operations?" describes potential ways to minimize the impact of hydrocarbon spills and release of toxic gases, and discuss the proper ways to use and dispose antimicrobials. Thanks to my co-authors Carla Thomas and David Armstrong.
