🐸🌿 Neighbourhood Ecosystem Fund - closes Wednesday 3 July 🐞🌼 The Neighbourhood Ecosystem Fund seeks to inspire, encourage, and enable communities to explore and deliver ambitious ecosystem restoration projects locally. It also seeks to raise awareness about the importance of local ecosystem restoration and address barriers faced by community-led efforts. Community groups can apply for up to £13,500, with successful applicants receiving up to £1,500 in professional fundraising support in addition to their grant. Projects must focus on one (or more) parts of ecosystem restoration. But new threats loom on the horizon, and we have all experienced the impacts of extreme weather on our waterways, our shorelines and our homes and businesses. We found that the most salient challenges in active participation of local communities in #coastal #hazardmitigation and #adaptation are: 1) the limited financial capacity of local governments, 2) complicated and fragmented governance, and 3) poor science communication. #IJDRR
