Taking care of our most PRECIOUS resource in Arizona, WATER! President, Bartholomew Water Services, Inc.
Did Your Water Engineer Plan a Self-Scouring Drainage System … But Failed to Build it That Way? I’ve seen this happen time and again. The engineer at a real estate development site plans a nice, self-scouring wastewater slope. But something gets lost between the planning and the construction phases. The grade of the slope is built too shallowly. If it falls under 2%, you have to apply for a variance from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality. Which, in turn, means added expenses. Increased service visits. More frequent inspections. Ridiculous. And completely unnecessary if you’d hired an expert to consult with your team from the start. If you’re a real estate developer working in Arizona, you can avoid headaches and unforeseen expenses by calling Bartholomew Water Services. Right from the get-go, we’ll make sure the job is done right. From there, it’s like water flowing downhill. (You see what I did there?) (Of course, you did.) (Call us today.) +1 (602) 692-7648 #phoenix #arizona #watewater #wastewatermanagement #engineer #hoa #landdeveloper

As we close out #NationalEngineersWeek, our final spotlight is on #OHLAUSA's engineer Jake Woxland, who serves as Assistant Project Manager at our I-5 North Capacity Enhancements project in Santa Clarita, CA. Jake shares with us the importance of collaboration and communication with subcontractors, utilities, and public agencies, which is essential to successful project execution. "Recently at our I-5 project, we came across the challenge of widening a bridge with many obstacles in the way including existing street lighting, concrete channels, and oil lines. This has all been made even more difficult due to the limited space and the bridge's height (over 65’ above the street). To get by the restrictions imposed by all parties, we had to implement a collaborative effort across all fields. This includes multiple meetings and discussions with various parties including our owner LACMTA, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the oil line company, our falsework design team, the County of Los Angeles, and the local electrical utility company." Jake explains that by working together to create solutions to these conflicts, which led to making various design changes, the team was able to coordinate a viable plan. "The revisions allowed OHLA USA to complete the construction of the bridge, despite the limitations, which is a positive milestone for the project." #engineer #engineeringchallenges #engineeringforabetterworld #civilengineering #construction #heavycivil #peoplebuilders #weareOHLA #webuildexcellence
