“Education must not stop at the door to the canteen. A school marches on its stomach”, The Times. This powerful quote encapsulates the importance of providing nutritious meals for kids. While recent media attention has highlighted the disappointing state of school food in some areas, it’s crucial to remember better is possible and already happening in many schools across the country. As the blog post on our news page emphasises, we have a dedicated workforce feeding our future generation, who care deeply about the children they serve. By providing training, professional development, and creative freedom we can transform both the standards of food and the sense of enjoyment school chefs have in their roles. Yesterday was International School Meals Day, and we showcased excellent examples of what can be achieved in schools. With the right training, resources and quality first mindset, great school food can be achieved in any school. Supporting everyone in the school kitchen community is essential to enable them to thrive and serve nutritious tasty food we know they can achieve. School chefs can be assets in a school, fuelling children and staff and we need to celebrate their efforts. By investing in food education and empowering school chefs, we can fuel the future where every child has access to wholesome delicious meals. #SchoolFood #ISMD

All Hallows is once again participating in the NFL Alumni SOUP-er Bowl. TACKLE HUNGER and the NFL Alumni Association created a challenge to collect canned food items for local food pantries. All Hallows has, once again, taken up that challenge. Each year level (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th) are competing to see who can bring in 100 cans first. Each can = One Yard. All year levels are competing to "rush" 100 yards to make a "Touchdown" first. Since it is called the SOUPer Bowl, we are asking each student in the school to bring in TWO cans of Soup to his homeroom. Homeroom Teachers, please tally the cans and stow them in your room. I will come around to collect them and to get the count each day. Ultimately, this project has two goals: 1. To unite the students in a project. 2. To serve the needs of the poor in our community. National School Meals Week: A celebration of the power of good food I'm passionate about the importance of good school food. What children eat has a direct impact on their learning, behaviour, and overall health and well-being. That's why I'm so pleased to be supporting National School Meals Week, which runs from 6-12 November 2023. https://lnkd.in/ep43xzhT It's a timely too. The cost of living crisis is putting a strain on many families and it's more important than ever to ensure that children are getting the nutritious meals they need to thrive. Good school food is more than just providing children with a hot meal at lunchtime. It's about teaching them about healthy eating and helping them to develop lifelong healthy habits. It's also about creating a positive and inclusive dining environment where children can feel comfortable and enjoy their food. At our school, we're proud to offer a nutritious and delicious school meal service. Our meals are prepared using fresh, local ingredients and are cooked by our talented team. I know that not all schools are as fortunate as ours, but I believe that every child deserves access to good school food. That's why I'm encouraging everyone to get involved in National School Meals Week and help to raise awareness of the importance of good food in our schools. Here are some ways that you can get involved: Visit your local school and see for yourself the quality of the food that is being served. Talk to your child about what they eat at school and how they enjoy their meals. Share your own stories about the importance of good school food on social media using the hashtag #NSMW2023. Support organizations that are working to improve school food, such as the School Food Matters. California’s School Food Professionals are more skilled than ever before. From scratch cooking and meal planning, to procuring fresh ingredients and educating kids about what to eat, they are leading the effort to bring better quality meals to school cafeterias. 🚀 Day 22 of 100 Days Challenge: Number of Students Unable to Eat Lunch #problem_statement The school cafeteria offers circular and square sandwiches at lunch break, referred to by numbers 0 and 1 respectively. All students stand in a queue. Each student either prefers square or circular sandwiches. #Solution_Approach: We first count the number of students with each sandwich preference (square or circular bread). Then, we iterate through the sandwiches and check if there are any students left with the same preference as the current sandwich. If no matching preference is available, we count the remaining unsatisfied students. Finally, we return the count of unsatisfied students.
