The design of effective oral medications presents a significant challenge. Over 60% of new drugs exhibit poor water solubility, hindering their absorption and efficacy. Fortunately, pharmaceutical scientists are well-equipped to tackle such hurdles. While traditional methods, such as crystal modification, offer benefits, they often have limitations. For high-dose formulations containing water-insoluble compounds, more innovative approaches, like liquid and solid dispersions, have emerged. Selecting the optimal approach depends on several factors, including polymer selection, surfactant compatibility, and thermal stability.
