“Information silos are serious business for a corporation, especially when those decision makers were once skeptics to begin with, but now only consume information from the sources they trust. The sheer number of sources makes it even harder to get your message directly to those hard-to-reach people.” Learn how to reach critical decision makers in Joe Farren’s recent blog “The Brave New World of Public Affairs” here: https://lnkd.in/enCaG97a

Taking the message to the media A spot on “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos is hard to come by, but there are shows hosted by Bloomberg, CNBC and Fox Business that are more influential in the business community. If you can explain to them how developments in Washington will impact an industry, you’re already in a good position. Celebrities, foreign dignitaries and national elected officials often duke it out to get space in the opinion pages of The Washington Post and The New York Times. But if you take a step back to recalibrate, a regulations-oriented message can open up more possibilities for submitting op-eds in a variety of major newspapers or syndicated services. Often, reframing an argument to focus on how the industry that will be affected will generate more visibility for a brand than winning the coveted spot in the national outlet. Siloed communication is always detrimental in the dynamic and often complex world of financial services. By fostering a collaborative environment where PR and government affairs work hand-in-hand, financial services companies can present a unified voice that builds trust, navigates challenges and ultimately positions them for success. ~ Alex Goss via O'Dwyer's Public Relations News

PUBLIC AFFAIRS LEADER - Building & Executing Best in Class Strategies / Thought Leadership / Teaching
🌐 Internal Side of Public Affairs: Barometer September 2024🌐 🌟 Calling All Public Affairs Professionals! 🌟 We need your help (7 minutes of it) to help improve our understanding of what is internally shaping the future of our profession 🚀 In June we ran our first Internal Side of Public Affairs Barometer to better understand the main challenges you are facing in your organizations – and the ways in which you are trying to address them. We had a great response and got some very interesting results (see previous posts for more on this) and we are building on that with our second Barometer. What we want to know? We want to know what are the internal challenges you face – and which are the most pressing ones for you. This will help us benchmark from the first barometer. This time we also dig deeper into the three main challenges identified in June: i) Unclear or Unrealistic Leadership Expectations for Public Affairs (39%) ii) Lack of Alignment between Public Affairs and Other Departments/Functions (28%) iii)Lack of Understanding of What Public Affairs Is/Does/Can Do for the Organization (22%) How Does It Work? The survey should take between 5-7 minutes to complete. Your feedback will be invaluable in understanding the biggest internal challenges and what is working (and not working) in addressing them. The results will be shared here in LinkedIn and also in a series of free webinars this autumn. We may also look to do some in-person events to really get into these issues. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eYpjGaqZ Thank you for your time and contribution! Please share this in your networks so we can get as much feedback as possible. #PublicAffairs #Survey #ProfessionalGrowth #Collaboration #Community Pär Nygårds Dr. Per-Erik Wolff Per Marxen Dr. Stephen Massey Dimitris Vartholomaios Anders Kopp Anna Aleksandra Koj Paul Shotton Aaron McLoughlin Andras Baneth Wouter Lox Claudia Breure Pieter Walraven Carmen Muñoz Jodar Irene Matías Campano Jorge Espinosa de Los Monteros Romero Kelly Langley Mickey Langley Tom Banks Laila Pinheiro
