Great article, Samir! 1851: What advice would you give to someone thinking about franchising their business? Wattar: My biggest advice is to consider what you’re selling. You’re not selling the product. We, at the Layne’s home office, have two customers. We have the regular customer that walks into a Layne’s restaurant, buys chicken tenders and goes home. Then we have another customer who is the potential franchisee. In my opinion, you’re selling them services. We need to treat the franchisees as we expect them to treat Layne’s guests when they walk into the restaurant. If you’re not focused on the service and just want to collect the check, you’re destroying your brand.

Had an insightful discussion on #culture at the #QSREvolution conference with Jason E. Brooks, Kelly Costanza, Michael Keller, Scott Snyder, Michael Freeman, Scott Greenberg. Thank you Danny Klein. Key Takeaways: 🔷 Our stores now comprise 4 generations of employees. 🔷 "Be your authentic self" is the new motto replacing "work hard play hard." 🔷 Restaurant technology should function like a referee in a sports game—behind the scenes and unnoticed. As a customer or fan, you’re there for the food and service, just like fans attend a game for the action, not the officiating. You shouldn’t walk away talking about a frustrating tech glitch, just like no one wants to leave discussing a bad call. When technology works well, it frees your staff to focus on delivering outstanding service to your guests. 🔷 They way you treat your employees is they way they will treat your customers. 🔷 Create a culture that fosters a culture of #curiosity for continuous growth 🔷 Matching franchisees with your #culture is vital for long-term success and profitability. #EmployeeEngagement #LeadershipDevelopment #Franchising

In today's #franchising landscape, customer demands are higher than ever. The last four years have brought many tough challenges, such as rising food costs, stagnant growth, and more. That's why it's important to always innovate and focus on what matters most: your customers. If you're a franchisee, and have an idea to make your offering better... GREAT. (yay!) DON'T put it into action, yet. (wait, what) Tell your franchisor. Show you're a good franchisee. Let them approve it. Allow them to test it. Work with them on building systems to make it scalable (and beneficial) across the entire chain. Product quality, great service, efficient distribution, good economics, location, etc. are important. But none of them matter if one store is run better than another. Or an offering is different than in a neighboring market. Let's be real: McDonald's isn't world-class because their food is incredible. But customers can go to one store and have the same exact experience as one in another city. THEY CAN TRUST THE BRAND. It may not taste like fine dining, but consistency and expectations take priority. If a customer has a great experience at one of your stores, and has a horrible one at another - customers will only go to one store (and frequency will suffer). Or worse - they stop going entirely because they don't know what they're going to get. It's even more critical at the store-level, too: If Employee #1 does things one way, and Employee #2 does it another...you're hurting your store's culture, profitability, and ability to grow. Of course, franchisors need to choose the right partners, put right systems and KPIs in place, make consistency and excellence easy to achieve, and have the franchisees' best interests at heart... But after that? Trust the brand. Execute at a high level. And make customers think all of your stores are owned by one entity, by how consistent the experience is. What do you think? What other visible signs make for a great franchise?

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR)? Perhaps its streamlined ordering with self-service kiosks and queues of McDonald’s or Burger King. Or maybe you think of the same familiar taste and service wherever you go. Behind this highly disciplined, streamlined and consistent environment, lies a meticulously orchestrated system, and at its core are the unsung heroes – the employees. In the bustling world of QSRs, the success of a franchise hinges on how well trained its employees are. With a high turnover rate, ever-evolving industry dynamics, and the need to adapt to local preferences, creating a comprehensive training strategy is no small feat. In our latest blog, we delve into 7 crucial considerations for QSR franchise operators aiming to elevate their employee training and ensure consistency, efficiency, and adaptability across locations. #qsr #quickservicerestaurant #franchise #training
