“Business as usual is failing us. This is not what we want, and businesses know it’s not what we want.” Great read from Better Business Act Campaign Director and Executive Director of B Lab UK, Chris Turner, in celebration of #BCorpMonth. ⭐ Business plays a huge role in all our daily lives, however when it comes to solving major social and environmental crises, we see many businesses contributing to the problems rather than creating solutions. From the #PostOffice prioritising the needs of its main shareholder at the expense of its employees, to the P&O firing scandal, it is clear that it can no longer be optional for UK business to align the long-term interests of people, planet and profit. 🌍 The Better Business Act is campaigning for exactly that – an amendment to Section 172 of the Companies Act to ensure businesses align social and environmental impact with shareholder returns. Helping my clients gain financial peace of mind so they can focus on the things that really matter to them
Short read from Morningstar on the difference between ‘being rich’ or ‘being wealthy’. We all need enough to live the lifestyle we want but knowing how much is enough and then making changes to our working patterns to allow us to enjoy that wealth with loved one and families, I would suggest is really important. Many of us often forget to lift our heads to see where we are in our life journey and continue to plough on regardless working just as hard with very long hours. Often sacrificing family/friend moments when maybe we wouldn’t need to if we had more clarity on the bigger picture, allowing us to make different choices on how we spend our time. This is what we do Carbon Financial Partners Ltd We provide choices/options and financial freedom based on the lifestyle you want to have. #haveaplan #haveingfun #lifenotadryrun

Increasing consensus for policy support to reinvigorate UK equity culture. In our outlook for 2024, Ken Wotton and I believe policy towards UK equity markets has a key role to play in unlocking the growth potential of the wider economy. Third and last share on private equity industry…. As governments (Ontario, others) consider privatization of healthcare, education, childcare and other essential services for life, we need to pay attention to the long game. Once privatized—it’s hard -impossible to take it back—-reverse it. Gone forever. At least in a democracy. Even if private companies replace public services AND did achieve better service for less, these CO’s can eventually become PE meals…the next Red Lobster….think about the financial food chain. Sustainable impact investment fund manager, HNW family advisor, social impact investor, entrepreneur, angel investor, living purpose.
There was an innate understanding that financial success was tied into owning a home by the founders of this nation state. They were correct, bold and built a great society. 👇 We can do this in America too. Let’s invest in Main Street, not Wall Street. Let’s invest in people, not private equity. Let’s invest in our future, not currency futures. Let’s invest in homeownership, not hedge funds. #sharedvalues #impactinvesting #sustainablecommunities.

A lot has been written about the Ownership Economy to start 2024. This article does an excellent job framing the forces that will shape our communities in the next decade and its conclusion is spot on, "A broad-based Ownership Economy could be the trickle-down strategy that actually works: modest investments that expand economic choice and opportunity not just today but for generations. It’s too big an opportunity to let slip away. And it will take real money to get real traction. Money is not something that’s in short supply in the United States: but can we put it to better use?" #inclusion #ownershipeconomy #impact
