Today is day 3 if the #LinkedInSportsChallenge! Prompt: What recent trends have you observed in sports and how are they shaping the future? Name, Image, and Likeness or more commonly abbreviated to NIL. NIL deals have been a factor of the sports industry for a while now, but as it continues to grow and become more of a staple in the sports industry all around, there’s been much controversy, especially when it comes to NCAA. July 1, 2021, a law was passed for collegiate level student athletes could be compensated for their NIL. This is, I believe, to be a big part of the future of sports for the fact that it is all about face and how one is being presented, and not just on the court. It gives fans an opportunity to learn about their favorite college athletes and what these athletes may enjoy away from their sport.

https://lnkd.in/gC-GU3rQ Some exciting news coming from the NCAA Division I Council. They've given the thumbs-up to a bunch of new rules that are all about how athletes can get paid for their endorsements. And, get this, they're thinking about allowing schools to play a more active role in these deals, which are already bringing in millions nationwide. The NCAA's goal here is to bring some much-needed transparency to the rapidly growing name, image, and likeness (NIL) market. They're talking about setting up a database where athletes and schools can check out these deals, creating a list of companies eager to work with athletes, and even suggesting some standard elements for those NIL contracts. Here's the scoop: Athletes are encouraged to share info about their deals, but it's not mandatory. These new NIL rules are expected to go live on August 1 and will impact Division I, which houses roughly 350 schools and nearly 200,000 athletes! Now, here's a question for you: How do you think these changes will impact the world of NIL deals? What steps do you believe athletes and schools should take to navigate this evolving landscape effectively? Share your thoughts below, and let's keep the conversation going! 🗣️ #NCAA #NIL #AthleteCompensation #CollegeSports #Transparency #Regulation
