A recent study revealed a concerning trend: 40% of procurement leaders are neglecting sustainability in their operations. This comes at a time when both consumers and governments are prioritizing environmental and social responsibility. The pressure to reduce costs is a constant struggle for procurement teams, but is it overshadowing the growing importance of sustainable practices? Is cost-cutting the only factor? Businesses need to recognize that sustainability can go hand-in-hand with efficiency. Implementing sustainable practices can lead to long-term benefits like reduced resource dependence, enhanced brand reputation & potential cost savings through responsible sourcing. The call to action is clear: Procurement leaders need to embrace sustainability as a core value. #Sustainability #Environment #ClimateChange #SaveEarth #Business #Future

Proud to share this latest piece of research I had the opportunity to conceptualize and work on about Sustainable Supply Chain Management! 🌱 Supply chain sustainability is not yet a widespread priority for companies. While some industry groups prioritize supply chain sustainability, adoption of basic components (like disclosing a supplier code of conduct) remains low. Nevertheless, increased pressure from investors and consumers is pushing companies to monitor and improve suppliers sustainability. Moreover, additional pressure is also coming from ESG regulatory requirements in many geographies. Companies with complex supply chains may have a long road ahead toward building practices that improve their supply chain management, though the tools to do so — from committing to sustainability values in a code of conduct to developing the sustainability credentials of chosen suppliers — are available. These can pave the way for collaborative supplier partnerships with defined sustainability goals. Thank you to the team which contributed to this article!
