Big win for nurses and patients The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) applauds the passing of the Health Legislation (Removal of Requirement for a Collaborative Arrangement) Bill in the Senate last night. This Bill will allow endorsed midwives and nurse practitioners to use their training, education, and skills to work to their full scope of practice, practice autonomously, and deliver more care to patients. It is a win for nursing and a win for patients, especially those who live in rural, regional, and remote communities, and other underserved communities. The removal of collaborative arrangements will provide nurses and midwives with much-deserved respect and acknowledgement of their clinical expertise. The requirement to have a collaborative arrangement has limited the practice of many appropriately qualified Nurse Practitioners. We hope this landmark decision attracts more Registered Nurses to become Nurse Practitioners and more Midwives to become Endorsed. It will create more career pathways for nurses and midwives.

Every three years, nurses and midwives must meet the NMC revalidation requirements to maintain their registration. This includes completing 35 hours of continuing professional development (CPD), 450 practice hours, five pieces of practice-related feedback, and five reflective accounts. A reflective discussion with another NMC registrant and a health and character declaration is also essential. ComplyPlus™ simplifies these requirements with tools designed to track and manage your CPD hours, store feedback, and prepare reflective accounts, all in a user-friendly format. Our platform ensures you meet all NMC standards without the stress, allowing you to focus more on your practice and less on paperwork. Ready to streamline your revalidation process? Everyday mothers and babies die from complications during childbirth that could have been prevented. Yet for many nurses and midwives in low-income countries, opportunities for advanced training and bedside mentorship are often few and far between. One solution, according to UCSF’s Global Action in Nursing (GAIN), is increasing the number of nurses and midwives who are supported with trainings and long-term mentorship. Read more about how GAIN is expanding thanks to a new $2.7 million gift of continued support from the Wyss Medical Foundation: https://lnkd.in/gCiqT4rj #UCSF #GlobalHealth #MaternalHealth #Midwives

Registered Nurse Midwife | Health content creator/Nurse educator ~I am passionate about creating health content and correcting some misconception about health related issues.
2024 INTERNATIONAL NURSES' WEEK I congratulate all qualified and practicing Nurses and Midwives in Nigeria and beyond on the occasion of 2024 Nurses' Week. This is our week, celebrated in recognition of the role nurses and midwives play in healthcare vis-a-vis implementation of global healthcare policies and programs. E.g. achieving the MDGs, immunization, eradication of diseases, and the general services we render to mankind amongst others. However, while it is worthy to celebrate, let's ponder a while.. The last decade has witnessed increasingly high technological advancement in healthcare with the use of Robots and computers seriously threatening nursing duties. Robots have been employed to administer complex care in ICUs, A&E Departments, and other medico-surgical interventions. These innovations indeed pose serious challenges and a call for preparedness on our part as Nurses and Midwives. My poser is how prepared are we in Nigeria? How prepared is the regulatory body, N&MCN, to addressing this challenge in terms of curriculum expansion? How prepared are the nurse educators, lecturers, and nurse researchers in expanding their knowledge frontiers to accommodate these challenges and prepare the minds of their students? How prepared are you, yes you, the practicing nurse and Midwife in embracing these challenges and working towards the inevitable change that is before us as professionals? How prepared is the government at all levels in providing the right tools and environment to enhance our innovations in Nursing Our practical answers to these questions will indeed affirm that the next decade is for growth in Nursing. BE PREPARED #NMCN #NANNM #nursesonlinkedin #healthcontent #nursesweek #interntionalnursesweek #copied

"This is a win for nursing and a win for patients". Endorsed midwives and nurse practitioners will be able to use their training, education, and skills to work to their full scope of practice, practise autonomously, and deliver more care to patients. "The removal of collaborative arrangements is a significant step towards acknowledging and respecting the clinical expertise of nurses and midwives," Adjunct Professor Ward said.
