Happy Wednesday AMERICA! Did you know that you are an author? We are writing stories and depositing new experiences everyday into our book. Each day that we live is another day added to the chapters in our lives. If we are not satisfied with the trajectory of our life the good news is that we can reset, we can edit and make changes. Eventually our story will be written, every chapter will be completed without the opportunity to make revisions. Let’s take each day and intentionally design the life that we want. Getting serious about making improvements is the first step to creating a better life and taking actions to do so is the next important step. Today we have the power to change our story and narrative. Don’t leave it to chance or others to write our story. We hold the pen, the power to edit and write the story we would want others to read. Peace and Love AMERICA 💛💜✌🏽 #wednesdaywisdom #mystory #editoften #MsAmericasHomes

PR and Communications Specialist at River Street Writing. Also, Poet Laureate of Scugog Township. Also, extremely bookish.
✨NEW ARC AVAILABLE!✨ Smoke is children’s author Nicola Winstanley’s first adult work, an unforgettable collection of short stories that is both searing and thought provoking. Smoke features a cast of characters across Canada and New Zealand, showing us glimpses into their lives of loss and heartbreak. In these eleven linked stories, Winstanley takes a hard look at intergenerational trauma and their impact on characters from multiple points of view, but her characters are not victims—anything but. Guilt, self reflection, compassion and forgiveness are central themes in this collection of stories that help us understand the degree of responsibility we hold towards the events that happen to us in life. To request a copy, click here: https://lnkd.in/gzPC_kyR Praise for Winstanley: “In each of Nicola Winstanley’s powerful stories we feel for and feel tender toward, even love, these characters trying to navigate through their lives the best they can, with earnest hope and often unrecognized resilience as they find ways to make do and, despite everything, continue to be themselves, to find agency and possibility. Smoke leaves the reader looking into the future, wondering what will become of these people, what will become of all of us, recognizing how lives are often betrayed by the way the world is – often because of the brokenness of men – but also buoyed by the very humanness, the fragility and strength of the women. Smoke isn’t a sugar pill, but something far more effective: a clear-eyed and compassionate tonic for strength and courage.” —Gary Barwin, author of Imagining Imagining and Yiddish for Pirates . . . #canlit #shortstories #shortstorywriter #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #bookstagramcanada #booksbooksbooks #arcreaders #arcreaderswanted #canadianreaders #bookstagram #newzealand #amreading #canadianliterature #readersareleaders #amreading #goodreads #recommendedread

Real talk: starting your book is harrrrrrrrd. 😫 Super hard. The hardest part of writing it! (In my humble opinion.) If you don't know how to begin, here are two ideas: 1. Start with a big, bold statement. Pick the hill you'd die on and stake your claim. ➡ Ex: Rachel Rodger's book WE SHOULD ALL BE MILLIONAIRES begins like this-- "I believe every woman should want to be a millionaire. If you agree with me, this book is for you. If you strongly disagree with me, this book is *definitely* for you." ...well, okay! Whew! 😓 What an opening! 2. I'm sharing this one with my newsletter tomorrow. 😜 Not signed up? Let me fix that for you: https://lnkd.in/grHSfit6 Writers, a question for you: How do you find your way into a piece, be it an article or book? 🤔 #writingtips #ghostwriter #nonfiction
