This just in! Google has released two open-source LLMs called Gemma. They are smaller in size at 2B and 7B. The pitch is that you should use these for fine-tuning for specific use-cases. I think that makes a lot of sense, smaller fine-tunes models can be really good at specific defined tasks compared to large generic models like Gemini.
