Our team had an amazing time participating in Lazarus House Ministries’s 26th Annual Hike for Hope Festival right here in our hometown of Andover, Massachusetts. The fun-filled day included vendor booths, delicious food trucks, music, and plenty of activities for kids. More importantly, the funds from this day will help Lazarus House continue to provide services like food, shelter, clothing, and advocacy to those facing poverty and homelessness. Pictured left to right: Sally Francis, Jessica Bolden, Keri Gray, Tracy Lucas, CPCU, and Adam Lucas. Quinn Landers participated but is not in this photo. #hikeforhope #lazarushouse #tacgivesback #theandovercompanies

Veteran Housing Corp reminds you that #HOMELESSNESS IS THE RESULT OF DECADES OF THE FAILURE TO BUILD AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR ALL. THE HISTORY AND PRESENT STATE OF THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IN AMERICA CAN BE SUMMED UP IN ONE WORD: BROKEN DON'T BE FOOLED BY SLICK PROMOTIONAL POSTS THAT MAKE IT SEEM LIKE YOUR LOCAL, STATE OR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS ARE SOLVING THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS. WHEN IT COMES TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING, THE PUBLIC AND TAXPAYERS MUST ASK: AT WHAT COST TO THE TAXPAYERS AND HOW LONG IS THE AFFORDABILITY PERIOD? EVERY TAXPAYER SHOULD BE ASKING THEIR ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS: 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, density bonus increase, waivers of impact fees, or other government benefit or incentive did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project and, if the affordability period is not in perpetuity or permanent, WHY NOT? 3. What guarantees exist that tenants in the affordable housing units will not be displaced after an "affordability period expires? Any LOCAL, STATE or FEDERAL official that does not MANDATE "permanent" affordability periods or affordability "IN PERPETUITY" for any project receiving some government benefit is commiting MALFEASANCE and should quit, be removed from office or be terminated. IN MOST CASES WHEN IT COMES TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING, the public and taxpayer are being fooled into thinking their elected and appointed officials are solving problems, when in fact, all hey have done is "KICK THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD" to burden a future generation with the same problem or crisis!
Today, Funders Together filed an amicus brief with our partners at National Alliance to End Homelessness and Enterprise Community Partners for the Johnson v. Grants Pass case to urge #SCOTUS to protect the lives and rights of our unhoused neighbors across the country. “As institutions that invest and support proven solutions to homelessness and housing instability, philanthropy has a responsibility to also utilize its voice to protect our unhoused neighbors’ rights and lives,” said Amanda Andere, CEO of Funders Together to End Homelessness. “This brief emphasizes our organization’s and member’s unapologetic support for solutions that are rooted in humanity, choice, and the understanding that everyone deserves a safe place to call home." https://lnkd.in/gztVPRBY

We went out on the streets to listen to people, and the hardships of living in an RV might surprise you. While it might be easier than living in a tent, there are still significant hardships like: - Overcrowded RV space - Taking care of companion animals - The hardship of getting out of a tent Living in a tent has its own difficulties - The weather in Los Angeles has been brutal over the last week - It's freezing and people have little cover to keep themselves warm - All they have is their tent to keep themselves protected You can read more about these hardships in the carousel below. As hopeless as it sounds, there are solutions. The Giving Spirit Youth Council passed out winter survival kits to people on the streets recently. These kits included tarps and blankets as well as food and socks. Over the last week, I've had the opportunity to share the stories that stuck with me over time. The hardships that keep people on the streets and suffering. Hopefully, this pushes you to do more for your neighbors living on the streets. Soon, the Youth Council will launch its semester initiative regarding supporting domestic violence victims. You can make a difference with a donation there. Thank you so much to Tom Bagamane, Angela Liu, and the whole Giving Spirit leadership team for their leadership and commitment to making this outreach possible. We couldn't have done it without you. #theyareus #housingcrisis #socialjustice #youthleadership

Today is your last chance to GiveBIG! Babies of Homelessness offers three ways for clients to easily and quickly access basic needs services–direct service, partner distribution, and pick-up service–and we provide an ongoing 30-day supply of diapers for each child for healthier outcomes. Our delivery model was created with client input as a way to serve hardest-to-reach and "invisible" families disconnected from the case management system, human services agencies in historically disadvantaged communities who have been left to the wayside for diaper support, and as a way to eliminate accessibility barriers that were prevalent (e.g., lack of transportation, long waitlists, inadequate quantity of diapers received and embarrassing intake processes). As families in King County and Snohomish continue to need diapers, we will be here. Help us be here for them by making a donation during this final day of GiveBIG 2024: https://lnkd.in/gi8VNWzc.

Sometimes trafficking survivors who call in for help may need help, but the Covered safe house isn’t the right fit for them. For example, they may already have housing established and start struggling. Covered helps by walking alongside them to get them back on their feet. Or, if a survivor does not have housing, Covered can assist by providing hotels for emergency shelter. Then, our team will work with the survivor on the best plan of action for helping them to heal and become self-sufficient. Meanwhile, in cases where it is too dangerous for survivors to live in Colorado, we will move them out of state. Visit coveredcolorado.org to learn more and make a difference for survivors today. #coveredcolorado #givelocal #safehouse #humantraffickingawareness #sextraffickingawareness #denvernonprofit #counseling #traumarecovery #therapy #healing #endhumantrafficking #giving #realestate #corealestate #denverlocal #socialgood #positiveimpact #communityimpact #coloradononprofit #philanthropy #fundraising #helpingothers #empowerment #empowertowardhealing #fightingforfutures #community #localdenver #denverlocal

Meet Luca🧡💙 With our summer distribution fundraising campaign underway we met with our Logistics Manager, Luca, to discuss the upcoming summer clothes distribution. Luca shared: “In the last few weeks, the weather has changed rapidly on Samos and we have seen that people are less interested in winter clothing. We are preparing to start the summer distribution to ensure that people receive the clothes that they want but also need to stay cool in the summer heat. Starting our summer distribution as soon as possible depends on our stock and your support.” Follow this link to donate and Support People on Samos this Summer: https://lnkd.in/eiaXSJsH #SamosVolunteers #Volunteer #StandForSamos #Greece #NGO #Refugees #RefugeesWelcome #Solidarity #HumanitarianAid #PsychosocialSupport #Community #Empowerment #SafeSpace #EuropeMustAct #SafeAndLegalRoutes

This June, our CEO, Roger Dowling, will be joining business leaders across the country for the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, swapping his bed for cardboard to shine a light on homelessness in Australia. Why? Because action speaks louder than words when it comes to making a difference. For Roger, the choice to participate is deeply personal: 🏡 Gratitude: Blessed with a loving family and a thriving life in one of Australia’s most beautiful regions, Roger is driven by a spirit of gratitude. 🤝 Community: Surrounded by friends, associates, and a supportive network, he believes in leveraging this collective strength to foster change. 🛌 Empathy: Understanding that not everyone has a warm place to sleep, Roger stands in solidarity with those who face nights out in the cold. ⏳ Reflection: Approaching life’s milestones, Roger is moved to give back, embracing the ethos that life’s true value is realised through acts of kindness. 💡 Opportunity: He’s adamant that homelessness isn’t always a choice but a harsh reality for many, often requiring just a simple opportunity to turn lives around. Join Roger as he braves one of the coldest nights this winter under a cardboard box, all to raise funds and awareness for those experiencing homelessness. Every bit of support counts, from small individual donations to corporate contributions. Your donation can provide essential services like counselling, education, health, and stable accommodation to those in need. 👉 Support Roger and make a difference here: https://lnkd.in/gaRRGGQ7 Together, we can help break the cycle of homelessness and positively impact lives. Remember, a little help goes a long way. #Leadership #CommunitySupport #VinniesCEOsleepout #EndHomelessness

Our friends @Justlife carried out research into women’s experiences of homelessness in Brighton & Hove. It’s a story of domestic violence, unhealthy relationships, complex feelings around motherhood and lack of basic safety while in temporary accommodation. We’re fundraising this week to create a year-long programme of free dance classes with and for women who have experienced homelessness. Everything you donate before midday on Tuesday 26 March will be doubled by @BigGive here: https://lnkd.in/e5jSDYD3 Thankyou 🙏 #ArtsForImpact #homelessness #danceforwellbeing #womeninrecovery #fundraising #Brighton&Hove Video description: A video showing roads, streets and cars with text about three things you might not know about temporary accommodation: - it's often not temporary. The shortage in social housing means people can wait years for their own home - living conditions can be poor. Common complaints include damp, overcrowding, infestations and feeling unsafe - people in temporary accommodation are often not considered homeless because they have a roof over their heads
