Before starting at Samsara 5 years ago, a friend told me that it was like strapping yourself to a rocket ship. Prior to Bravura, I had 6-7 different companies which all had success in their own way, but none were largely successful and in many cases ended in complete failure. After each failure I would learn how to come back bigger and better, however, never did I think that I could reach the heights that my partner jace cunnane and I have reached. So, after a year of being in business I wanted to take some time to reflect on some things I’ve learned along the way. Networking is the key to success in any industry, and I’ve found that the utilization of old and new connections is a large part of our success at Bravura. Fostering new and unique relationships, especially with those who are like-minded, helps lay down the stepping stones towards success. Resource management is also vital for any business, whether that be how you allocate your funds, utilize your assets, or manage manpower, all are so important towards longevity. Allocating funds properly is much easier in the beginning, however at scale you run into issues like overspending which I had never imagined to ever be an issue. Manpower management and being able to properly manage your employees is another skill that does not come overnight. Being able to properly manage your relationships whilst maintaining success can prove to be a difficult task, but this task’s success is vital for the growth of the overall business. Finding people to outsource to and training people to do your job is part of the beauty of starting your own business. Being a good leader and teacher is important in this regard, lack of this gives your business a lower ceiling thus holding you back from your business’s full potential. Finally, after being in the social media space for almost a decade, I’ve come to realize the sheer power of media. Your life can be changed overnight by just one post. That being said, I am so thankful to be given the opportunity and the ability to master social media. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for our journey towards success here at Bravura.
Two months ago, we hit our companies one year mark of being in business. A month after that, we hit our goal of one million dollars in sales! A small achievement in our eyes as we are aiming to 3x our sales before our two year mark, but still something to celebrate nonetheless. Congratulations team!

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘀? 💪 Over the last 3 years, we've launched 2 products, closed 2 funding rounds, gained a ton of customers, hired some fantastic staff, and achieved so much more, but we haven’t really taken the time to properly celebrate any of it. It’s been a treadmill of achievements and setting the next goals. Sometimes, the big wins take months to happen, and when they do, the excitement doesn’t hit quite the same. So what do we do? We celebrate the small wins instead, like: 🎉 Resolving a customer support issue / bug within 15 minutes 🎉 Getting a positive email from one of our customers about how we sped up a difficult transaction 🎉 Realising that Yasmin has already planned and scoped a project that I’ve only just thought of (Thank you!) These small wins keep us motivated to get up and do it all over again. What are your small wins?

I never imagined this day would arrive. Celebrating a decade as a business owner feels surreal. To many, ten years might seem like an eternity. Yet, for me, the time has flown by so swiftly that the anniversary almost slipped my mind. AMOK has been nothing short of a miracle in my life. It represents a series of firsts: my first job post-college, my initial foray into business, and my debut into the creative visual realm. Entering the film and video industry, much less owning a business, was never in my plans. Yet, here we are! The inception of AMOK was borne out of pure curiosity and, admittedly, a heavy touch of naivety. Alongside my co-founders, Caleb Quek, and Sean. we embarked on this journey as clueless, penniless dreamers, fuelled by nothing but a shared vision. We are now further boosted by new partners Jiaxin Zheng and Ted Pang, who are bringing in new energy and ideas to the organisation. AMOK began with zero external funding, no loans from family or friends, and scant savings in our accounts—a situation that amusingly hasn't changed much. However, the kindness of individuals like Esmond Wee, who offered us three desks in his studio space rent-free for six months, became our lifeline. This generosity, extended by family, friends, team members, clients, and more, is the bedrock upon which AMOK has stood the test of a decade. Our team remains deliberately small, a choice we made to preserve the quality of our work and the well-being of our people. We never aspired to be the largest entity in the film & video production market. Instead, we prioritised creating a work environment that is enjoyable and fulfilling for everyone involved. I personally believe this is the way to creating a better final product. Happiness in our line of work is not a constant, and the path has been anything but smooth. The year 2023 posed significant challenges for creative firms, including ours. Despite the hardships, we've strived to humanize the video production industry, notorious for its demanding conditions. Our commitment remains unwavering: to foster a healthy, non-toxic work environment. Because what value does exceptional work hold if the process is marred by negativity? The road ahead is uncertain, yet I'm filled with optimism. The coming decade presents an opportunity to build a safer, more sustainable ecosystem for creative entities to develop and thrive. My heartfelt thanks to each one of you for being an integral part of this incredible adventure. Your support has allowed me and my team the freedom to be bold—to truly run AMOK.
This month marks a significant moment for us. We are 10 :) A huge thank you to all who have been so instrumental to our existence. From our families, team members (past and current), partners, clients, vendors, to our staunch supporters—each one of you has played a pivotal role in shaping AMOK into what it is today. Led by Raewyn Yandall, Elise Hogan and Eddy Richards the team has achieved so much throughout the year and we have set a great foundation for 2024. - Call wait times down 34% - Weekly email queues of 4000+ reduced to less than 200 - Live chat assisted sales up 8% with a Boxing Day sales campaign around the corner - Launch of AI-assisted technology on live chat - Product Review score increases from 2.0 to 3.6/5 (and growing!) - Team engagement scores up from 33% to 74% - Supported two successful Linen Lovers events - 2 team members went on secondments - Another 2 team members received internal promotions I can't wait to see what we achieve in 2024!
