As we wrap another BOD meeting with Turn/River Capital I am grateful for the opportunity to lead GTM at Redwood Software. We are absolutely crushing it and I wish I could share our financial profile publicly. We are an n=1. Rule of.... 'you wish you were us'. People matter. Having a platform with amazing customers and a ton of untapped potential allowed us to recruit some of the most talented people in software to a company no one cared about a few years ago. Our investors are incredibly accretive to our mission and set a great cultural tone (lead by Jarrett Stringfellow who encouraged me to wear a 'Salmon' sweatshirt to my first BOD meeting 28 days into my tenure). We have been able to recruit top end talent with an actual growth mindset. Our investors are absolutely in the seat with us walking the mile and not yelling at the scoreboard. They are elite. We do it differently at Redwood. And that difference has made the difference. The best part about the software industry for me has been that feeling when you know it is special before everyone else does. At MicroStrategy we hired the smartest people on the planet for an incredible journey while I was there. At BladeLogic I was exposed to excellence which has proved itself time and time again as an incubator for some of the most talented operators of the past 20 years in software. At Qlik we transformed an industry and attracted the most talented minds in BI at the time. At IBM Turbonomic we had an incredible founder and CEO/Investor who showed how through a founders vision and sheer will you could transform some of the largest enterprises on the planet. An incredible mix of vision and operational excellence. Redwood Software is my current chapter and when this story ends it will be epic. If you aren't paying attention, you should be. This company will be one that will be talked about for all the right reasons a decade from now (and I hope to be here a decade from now). If you are an elite talent who is looking for your next chapter. We won't sell you on a 'rocketship', we'll sell you on insane growth that's profitable. A culture of constant learning and enablement. One of the highlights of the last few years for me has been seeing so many Gainsight admins change the trajectory of their careers by becoming an expert in the platform and CS Operations. We’ve all known (for quite a few decades now) the power of a quality #salesoperations team, but the power of a quality #csoperations team is a bit of a newer phenomenon (evidenced clearly by the fact that finding a hashtag for sales ops was lightyears easier writing this post than finding one for CS). It’s newer yet it’s here to stay. Today, I’d like to celebrate one of those people who are making it stick around. Tiffany Hui you are incredible. You did something this past week that I’ve seen very rarely in the industry and that all of us in #customersuccess should celebrate. Tiff won the sole quarterly All Hands Values award presented by our CCO, Erin Siemens and backed by our CRO Bill Schuh and CEO Charlie Gottdiener. She won the award for Innovation (one of our Anaplan values included in “I. Act. Real.”) because she constantly is able to see the big picture, make sense of the strategy, and turn all of the asks from across the org into a beautiful system that benefits the entire ecosystem from ICs to C-suite. I kind of feel like she won the award for all of us in CS Ops though. No matter the system people use, Customer Success is integral to the success of your organization. Recognizing that is the key to success and profitability. I feel lucky to work at a company that celebrates this function and the individuals who power it. It’s a very similar feeling to watching Master Anaplanners change their own careers by focusing on mastering their craft in Connected Planning. It just feels good and deserves to be celebrated. Hats off Tiffany Hui Brett Witrick and Sherry Lin. We’d be lost without you. Cheers to CS, cheers to innovation, and cheers to values.

Here’s how he does it: 1) Each team leader submits a plan (grow 20% is Benioff’s metric) 2) If you’re hitting the plan, meet once a quarter. 3) If you’re missing the plan, meet once a week (until you hit the plan) 4) Ask: What got done? What worked? What didn’t work? How do we know it worked? A BILLION DOLLAR company running a playbook so simple you can run it with a small team."
