What once seemed like a passing pie-in-the-sky idea is now starting to gain traction. The idea is that people will get an extra day off every week without losing money. This is not a compressed work week, where people work longer days to get more days off. The 4-day work week, as proposed, is one where you work only 32 hours a week but get paid for 40 hours. Additionally, you would then get overtime pay for all hours worked in excess of 32 in a week. Is this a good idea? Always interested in this better work life balance concept and will follow to see what results from the trial. I have a few clients who work full time hours over 4 days and this generally helps attraction and retention and allows for easily organised overtime. #RecruitmentRevolution

For four-day workweek fans, there's some good news. Sen. Bernie Sanders introduced legislation to establish a four-day workweek in the U.S. If passed, this bill would reduce the standard workweek from 40 to 32 hours over four years. Crucially, the bill would also protect workers' pay and benefits with the reduced workweek. Its proponents call it "an important step toward ensuring that workers share in the massive increase in productivity driven by artificial intelligence, automation, and new technology."
