We are excited to close out June and feature AHS member, Dr. Guy Greco, a #fellow at the University of Miami in Miami, FL. Dr. Greco says one of his most utilized AHS membership benefits as a Fellow is access to the @HeadacheJournal, “access to the journal Headache is crucial and tremendously helpful during fellowship especially”. 📣 As Guest Editor of the Crystals MDPI Journal, I am pleased to announce the opening of a #callforpapers to be published in the Special Issue “State of the Art of Excitonic Insulators” 👉 https://lnkd.in/gd2MxreE 🔎 Predicted at the end of ’60, the excitonic insulator phase -a macroscopic quantum coherent state of electron–hole pairs- represents one of the most fascinating paradigms of condensed matter. To date, the observation of an excitonic insulator phase in real materials is just beginning to be explored❗ The present Special Issue aims to become a status report on the progress achieved and the timely challenges faced in grasping the excitonic insulator physics in actual van der Waals layered systems. #excitonicinsulators #crystalgrowth #condensedmattertheory #spectroscopy #nonequilibriumphysics
#callforpapers 🌈We invite you to submit your work to the new Special Issue: "State of Art of Excitonic Insulator" Guest Editors: Dr. Selene Mor, Dr. Igor Yurkevich, and Dr. Qiang Zhang Deadline: 25 September 2024 Aston University Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Oak Ridge National Laboratory 👉https://lnkd.in/gd2MxreE

It was instructive yesterday to attend, at the Vieille Charité, the first seminar of the new Research Laboratory created in Marseille, CeRCLEs (Centre de recherche sur les circulations, les liens et les échanges - Centre for Research on Circulation, Links and Exchanges). There I presented my EHESS-funded project to reconstruct the sources and potential of a transformative paradigm and understanding of democratic modernity. The CeRCLEs laboratory aims to be "a place for methodological and epistemological experimentation through collective surveys and seminars to reflect on the work in progress, built around issues of circulation that are both empirical and conceptual" (https://lnkd.in/d6n8H9eQ).

Abstract submission is open for The Society for Humanies, Social Science, and Medicine's 10th biennial meeting, set for April 13th-14th, 2024 at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. The theme is Advocacy and Accountability: Navigating the Boundaries of Modern Medicine. A diverse set of emerging issues – including the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the criminalization of gender-affirming care, global trauma and displacement, and an increasingly inhospitable climate – is impacting the communities in which we work and live. By bridging disciplinary divides across the social sciences and humanities, we can not only improve our advocacy for patients, but also contend with the role that medicine has played in broader histories of structural violence. http://shssm2024.org
