I am happy to share the new Morris Model Sustainable Strategic Plan 2.0 is officially live. If you are interested in learning more about how a small town of 5,000 in western Minnesota is preparing for extreme weather and to attract state and federal climate dollars to our community- then this is a must read! In addition to coordinating sustainability projects and initiatives for the City of Morris, I also serve as the Morris Model coordinator. With support from West Central Initiative, and in collaboration with Guido Wallraven and Sabine Engel from UMN I on E, I planned 2 weeks of workshops and stakeholder meetings to bring this updated plan to life. Using the #unsdgs we created a framework that would work for our rural community. Focus areas include investing in our green infrastructure, green businesses and jobs, and of course affordable and clean energy! This plan acts as a 'next step' from the first strategic plan completed back in 2018, building on the initial plans big three goals. These goals are to produce 80% of the energy we consume from local renewables, to decrease overall energy use by 30%, and to end landfilling of waste generated within the county. This updated plan expands the circle of the Morris Model to include citizens, local businesses, health and wellness organizations, and creates an inclusive sustainable vision that incorporates the three pillars of sustainability: Social, Economic, and Environmental. https://lnkd.in/gEkna9dz

It's a platform that empowers companies to adopt strategies that enhance financial performance and reduce environmental footprints. By engaging employees, they're fostering positive impacts in the workplace and the community. 🏢 Partnering with the Missouri Botanical Garden and the ST LOUIS REGIONAL CHAMBER & GROWTH ASSOCIATION, this program has blossomed since its inception in 2010. Leveraging a vast business network and sustainability resources, they've cultivated a community committed to green policies and practices. 💼 What sets it apart? The Challenge delivers "Triple Bottom Line" results—benefitting finances, society, and the environment. With tailored coaching from the Garden's EarthWay Center and a robust professional network, participants have the tools to thrive. 📈 Results: Since its launch, 250+ businesses, non-profits, and municipalities have joined, impacting over 620,000 individuals! The commitment is strong—60% have participated for two or more years, with an annual Awards Celebration honoring their achievements. 👏 Let's applaud these efforts and encourage more businesses to join the movement towards a greener, more sustainable future! Only a small percentage of Hong Kong's listed companies have studied their financial exposure to climate risks and opportunities. Starting from the 2025 reporting year, HKEX's New Climate Requirements, which align with IFRS S2 / TCFD, will come into effect. Great work by Colliers Hong Kong Andrew Lau and Cecilia Ng in guiding Chevalier Group in initiating their journey towards climate resilience using the TCFD framework.

Today, on World Environmental Day, we are reminded of our responsibility to the environment. This year’s theme focuses on land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience. Businesses depend on, and can impact our environment and its biodiversity, either directly through their activities or indirectly through their supply chains. It’s important that organisations continue to reflect upon and demonstrate how they are measuring, reporting, implementing, and positively growing their environmental and sustainability initiatives, to ensure a continuous improvement approach.   At Bedford Consulting we are committed to embracing our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as an integral part of our identity and operations. This has always been a part of our DNA but as an organisation we always strive to understand what we can do better and look for opportunities where we can grow and improve our positive impact.
