DISCLAIMER: after playing this back, I realize because I had not yet had my second cup of coffee yet, I mistakenly refer to broker instead of carrier but you should get the gist of this in the recap. It should read carriers would be getting 84% on average if brokers are actually averaging 16% on loads as Voltmann said in 2020 (not 12%). The 12% to 13% average profit margin figure is being thrown around based on publicly-traded broker investor reports but it is an apples to oranges comparison to offer net profit margins in place of gross commission percentages and this appears to be an attempt to mitigate high broker average per load commissions by talking about average net profits after brokerage costs like technology instead.
