Netsmart recognizes the importance of #healthcare equity for persons with a #SubstanceUse disorder (SUD) or history of SUD treatment. The Partnership to Amend 42 CFR Part 2 recognized several members of Congress who championed legislation to more closely align decades-old 42 CFR Part 2 healthcare privacy regulations with #HIPAA, while retaining strong privacy protections. Netsmart joined the Association for Behavioral Health and Wellness and a diverse range of other partnership members to lead advocacy for this multi-year effort. Kevin Scalia, Netsmart delivered opening remarks describing how the Final Rule gives people the power to share their SUD-related health data with all their healthcare providers via a single consent form if they desire - the same as persons with cancer, diabetes, heart disease, mental illness or multiple co-occurring conditions.
