During my run yesterday, I was reflecting on last week's Conservation Land Foundation's Friends Summit. This wasn't merely an event; it was a reunion of passionate leaders united by a cause that stretches far beyond the confines of conference rooms and PowerPoint presentations. At its core, it's a celebration of what happens when we dare to imagine—and strive for—a world where nature isn’t just a backdrop to our daily lives but a vital, thriving part of it. “Protect What Matters”. Honestly, could there be a more timely call to arms? To protect what matters, we need all hands on deck — from policymakers to grassroots activists, from corporations to individual citizens. The path ahead is as daunting as it is necessary, but together, there’s no challenge we can’t overcome. Here’s to the next chapter in our journey. May it be one of bold actions, deeper connections, and unwavering dedication to the cause that has brought us together. Let’s keep the conversation going, lean into the discomfort, and, most importantly, never lose sight of the fact that we’re fighting not just for the world as it is, but for the world as it could be. #ConservationLandsFoundation

At the #OceanKAN, we already have used "Impact Networking" practices and "Network Weaving" to build a trust-based network that spans 30 countries and more than 100 community members. Now, at Moonjelly Foundation, we are using a similar approach, plus Pay It Forward Scaling, to grow a Conservation Impact Network through trust-based conservation finance. The Center for American Progress has released a new column: The Biden Administration Has Reached Conservation Records in 2023. This paper takes stock of the first three years of the Biden administration’s work toward conserving America’s public lands and finds that the Biden administration has conserved over 24 million acres of public lands and has funneled over $18 billion to federal, state, local, and Tribal conservation efforts. This year alone, the Biden administration conserved over 12.5 million acres and channeled $7.5 billion toward conservation programs across the country. Since the Biden administration took office, it has worked to meet community needs through new protections and funding for conservation. But the work is not done; this paper also emphasizes that President Biden must turn towards executive action to bring in big conservation wins in 2024. What Western Landowners Alliance is doing to build bridges is critical.

Can you believe it? Talk about a photo being worth 1000 words. How can National Geographic Society illustrate its freshwater call with a photo of....well you can see for yourself. It's beyond freshwater blindness. It's bonkers! Surely they must have one river or lake or freshwater wetland photo in the National Geographic archive?!! (And if you read this, please change it) And it's a really great project too - to help highlight real-life stories about water scarcity by funding on-the-ground, community-led conservation projects addressing freshwater scarcity challenges through impactful solutions.
