It might be a bit late to celebrate this career milestone.Nonetheless, I'm going to celebrate 🥳 😁 When I joined Ngezwe Consulting in 2021, I was appointed as an Associate Consultant for one of our biggest clients, Unilever South African. Unilever through the OMO brand, aimed to collaborate with the Department of Basic Education to catalyze transformation within the education sector, with a specific focus on the Early Childhood Development (ECD) space. During our engagements, the DBE highlighted the need for the Grade R Integrated Teacher Manual (ITM), an educational resource designed to comprehensively cover Mathematics, Life Skills, and Language within a single publication. This initiative stemmed from the acknowledgment of a critical gap existing within Grade R, indicating a need for a standardised approach to curriculum delivery. By integrating key subject areas into a cohesive manual, the aim was to bridge this gap and enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning experiences within Grade R classrooms. Through collaborative efforts between Unilever, the DBE, and Ngezwe, started working on the project to develop the Grade R ITM, envisioning a transformative impact on early childhood education across South Africa. The process of developing the ITM content demanded meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of the educational needs and requirements within the Grade R space. Collaborating with subject matter experts, educators, and curriculum specialists, we embarked on a journey of content creation, ensuring that the material was comprehensive, engaging, and aligned with curriculum standards. The journey was not easy. Relationship building is not easy. However, after a rigorous process of developing the ITM content, taking the content and presenting it in a book format (layout and design) and multiple Quality Assurance workshops conducted by DBE Grade R specialists. The ITM was signed off 🥳 in December 2023. The ITM is now being versioned in 10 official languages. Understanding that Grade R is taught in Home language. The book will officially land in schools in 2025 (project timeline dependent). It feels great to work on a project from start to fruition. #education #ecd #GradeR

This Index is somewhat similar to a person's credit rating, but instead of measuring how well a person can pay his bills, it measures a person's manners! Qualities like business etiquette, empathy, intercultural awareness. It is now a part of United Nations Sustainable Initiative and an emerging global standard. The concept is that job-seekers & current employees can get the credential based on the World Civility Index, as proof, to show to employers and even their competition. "Systems change is shifting the conditions holding a problem in place." Social Innovation Generation (SiG). On Tuesday, some of our team participated in a learning session with Katherine Milligan on 'Applying systems thinking to transforming education'! They were encouraged to think critically about whose perspective is centered and whose is resourced in education systems, and the nonlinear progression of systems change work. 💭 Systems thinking, as a mindset and set of processes, can help us engage with the world around us.
