Did you know that 70% of adolescents who experience mental health problems have not had appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age? This #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek (5th – 11th February 2024) serves as a reminder of the importance of nurturing the emotional and psychological growth of the children we care for. By prioritising mental health from an early age, #EarlyYears providers contribute significantly to creating a healthy environment. Whether it’s through ✅ Introducing Structured Routines, ✅ Promoting Physical Activity or ✅ Allowing Children to Make their own Choices, the #EYFS offers many ways in which #ChildcareProviders can help a child express themselves. It's a Monday in May which means #MentalHealthAwareness month, #MothersDay and #MediaMonday are coinciding, so I couldn't miss the opportunity to share this article I worked with Motherly® and Katrina Nattress on for our #client KinderCare Learning Companies. KinderCare's Parent Confidence Index data shows the important role of access to child care in preventing parent burnout and improving mental health, something we should all try to remember. #ItTakesAVillage https://lnkd.in/gCGTe3Du

✨I teach you the tools you need to FEEL BALANCED long term ✨Wellbeing Consultant-The Family Well-being Hub🌟
Children’s mental health approaches are all just sticking plasters…. Because the real issue lies deep within the structure of society. 💥 The ‘cost of living’ which leads to parents working all hours to pay for ‘life’ 💥The education system which isn’t fit for purpose 💥Teachers being overwhelmed and working all hours, often ending up stressed 💥 Childcare providers paid low wages I could go on…. Children’s mental health and well-being comes from the adults around them. As adults, our own well-being actually impacts on a child’s GENES and can switch them on or off (Epigenetics) 🤯 Society needs a complete restructure, with children at the HEART ❤️ And if you’re reading this concerned about your own children, WE are the change. When I took back control of my own well-being and began to feel better, I watched my children become healthier, happier versions of them too 🙌🏼 I wouldn’t have believed it had I not seen it with my own eyes! It’s an energy thing 💓 Book a 1:1 with me Rachel Naylor to clear your energy and learn the simple strategies to make you feel more YOU 💎xx

Do you have youngsters in the house?🏠 I'm now officially a 'Youth Mental Health First Aider'. Despite not working in childcare, schools, or directly with children and young people, you may be curious about why I've done it 🤔 Well.....my motivation stems from being a parent of two teenage daughters. Although my profession has involved various mental health training sessions over the years, the increasing pressures on our young people today are different from when I was young. My aim was to be well equipped to support and guide my daughters and their peers in a positive way if ever the need arises. The stats on the state of mental wellbeing in our youth population are staggering: *In 2022 18% of children aged between 7 and 16 years had a probable mental disorder * In 2021, 212 people aged 10–19 died by suicide * About 18% of students aged 12–17 report self-harming at some point in their life If you have young people at home and the opportunity to become a Youth Mental Health First Aider raises its head, I'd encourage you to get engaged. The more people who understand how to support and nurture the brilliant minds of our future leaders, the greater the impact⭐🤞 PAC Positive Action In The Community MHFA England #youthmentalhealth #makeadifferencetoday #positiveimpact

How can you expect others to value you if you don't value yourself? Prioritize your care to every extent possible. This can often be difficult with competing demands such as long work hours, family obligations, childcare, etc. Figure out the right combination for you (ex. more sleep, cut off social events at a certain time, asking for more help, etc.) and get yourself what you need to feel your best physically, emotionally, and mentally. #behaviouralscience #behaviouraleconomics #psychology #success #selfbelief #knowyourworth

Struggling with mental health can hinder early bonding moments for parents and babies. Without proper support, simple tasks become overwhelming. Why it matters: Mental health affects a baby's social, emotional and physical development during the crucial early years. Caregivers' mental health is essential for a baby's well-being. The big picture: Babies and toddlers grow within the context of relationships, making parental mental health vital to their development in areas like attachment, trust, learning and emotional regulation. UNADRESSED parental mental health challenges may increase the likelihood of involvement in the child welfare system. " In her work for Safe Babies in Arizona, Prevent Child Abuse Arizona's Statewide Coordinator, Marshalle Manriquez, promotes parental and caregiver mental health during the perinatal period to prevent further harm. "Early childhood professionals like Marshalle are key to providing support to parents and caregivers to ensure healthy bonding and development, thus making a lifelong impact starting in the early years. Parenting/caregiving is a challenge even under the best circumstances… and much of life we cannot control. Parent/caregiver stress and burnout was exacerbated by the pandemic, but has been happening for a long time. I know I can relate to putting everyone else first and pretending everything is fine, until it isn’t. Love the 6 suggestions on on helping deal with parental stress/burnout.
