Our response 👇 🌍 The targets proposed 90% emissions reduction by 2040, aligning with scientific advice. This strategic move addresses the gap between current objectives and the critical net-zero emissions goal by 2050. 📈 Ensuring consistency with #COP28 objectives and avoiding potential pitfalls, particularly regarding carbon sinks, is crucial for effective climate action. Thus, the EU needs to double its annual emissions reductions, ensuring thorough plans and firm national commitments. 🚜 The EU has to tackle agricultural vulnerabilities at their core, emphasizing holistic solutions within the sustainable food system legislation. En route to UNFCCC SB60 in Bonn. I will be there between 3-5 June. SB60 will gather climate negotiators, international organisations, NGOs and other stakeholders for a mid year check in to pave the way to COP29 in Baku. Amongst other crucial topics, I will closely observing New Collective Quantitative Goal (NCQG) on Climate Finance and discussions on updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). #sb60 #climatefinance #cop29
