My 16 year old son came to me and said I love perfumes and I think I want to study perfumery!!!! 🤔 I thought this is really interesting, I started dreaming like any mom of bragging to everyone how special this is 😁!!! I would have never thought that perfumes is that important to someone at that young age. I started exploring the industry trying to understand its potential, key players, etc. I also read many reports, however, let me tell you some insights that none of the reports mentioned. Disclaimer: These insights are all based on my own observation and discussion with my kids and their wide social circle of friends from this part of the world. 1️⃣ They are so obsessed with perfumes ---- no way it will not be a growing industry!! 2️⃣ They do not use one perfume but multiple and change based on occasion or time of day, and use perfumes more than once and sometimes for no reason when at home 🤦♀️!!!! ---- interesting for R&D, innovation and user journey!! 3️⃣ They fancy known brand names but also like local/regional brands if they like the scent. Believe it or not, they like some Oud scent in their perfume!! Marketing, R&D?! 4️⃣ They do not throw away perfume bottles but collect them....interesting for companies to work with that!! Now let me tell you the problem with the eco-system, especially if we want to nurture such an interest in youngsters: 🏫 Very limited universities that teach perfumery especially at BS level and they are extremely selective...A shout out to universities to develop specialised programs/degrees for this industry, best in cooperation with the big players!! ⭐ Internship opportunities to nurture such passion. I have tried to find my son an internship, but it is such a difficult task ... any leads for an internship for a teenager who loves this industry?!! I would love to hear others' comments and any advise. Thank you! #consumerpreferences #fragranceindustry #education #perfumery #internship

This is great to hear! I think when it comes to Perfumery France seems to be a major player in it. I only recently discovered that there is a place called Grasse in the south of France. That is the perfume capital of the world. I will be there next week for an exhibition and can ask around as I will be interacting with perfumers.
