I recently surveyed my network of fellow insurance recruiters on a couple of topics. Check out this one 👇 "Have your clients missed out on a great candidate because their interview process drug on too long, and the candidate was scooped up elsewhere?" 95% of respondents said yes. 😳 95%!!! What does your hiring process look like? I have 2 clients who will make offers the same or next day. One hires candidates fully remotely. Their process consists of a Zoom interview with Agency Manager. The other is an in-person interview with the Agency President and COO. Both companies will make offers to a candidate they feel strongly about after that. Their thought process is that if the candidate has made it through me, that's round one. And they are not afraid to make a decision after their meeting with the person for round 2. Admittedly, those 2 move way faster than most - but don't be at the total opposite end of the spectrum! I think 3 touchpoints and 2 weeks is the most it should take for most any underwriter or agency service position. Higher level management or sales positions might require a bit more time and dialogue but these processes should not be dragging on for months! Remember that if candidates are talking to you, they are open to (or already are) talking to other companies, too. A few of the signs we look for from clients who may not have any intention of interviewing our candidates: They do not respond to candidate submissions. They respond to candidate submissions without any commitment to take the next steps. They change their search parameters as soon as they get a candidate. They simply respond with: "Pass."
