As part of our commitment to sustainability and involvement with the community, Oakland Care collaborated with the #EssexForestInitiative to plant over 400 #trees at Alderton Junior School in Loughton. We were proud to have our team members from Lambwood Heights, Elsyng House, Woodland Grove Care Homes, and Head Office working alongside the Essex Forest Initiative to plant the trees.
Our efforts to give back to local communities and volunteer with environmental projects have led us to commit at least 1,500 hours of staff time to environmental initiatives. Our involvement in this project is part of our larger strategy to demonstrate the importance of sustainability in our sector and beyond.
Jaime Carvalho, Forestry and Woodland Officer at Essex Forest Initiative, commented, “The Essex Forest Initiative is a county-wide tree planting scheme with the aim of mitigating the effects of climate change. Having volunteers, such as parents and corporate groups, like from Oakland Care, really make a difference in improving our environment, little by little, one tree at a time.”
Aaron White, our Head of Business Services and Sustainability, mentioned," It was a great effort by all our team members across our care homes and head office, benefiting both the environment and the local School".
