Exploratory is an important time for freshmen to gain exposure to your program and an idea of career pathways. Here's a glimpse at our CTE Business Technology exploratory week which repeats 6x through the fall. This week is a little different as we have a field trip to Patriot's Place, so we're not doing our Business Project (aka Shark Tank). What do you find engaging and successful during exploratory? #cte #businessclass

A few weeks ago, Vertex Pharmaceuticals welcomed 27 Co-Op Students for a 6 month real-world experience across our No. America locations. While many people are familiar with the concept of an “Internship”, not everyone is familiar with the concept of a “Co-Op”, so let’s dive in to define the details and benefits – for both students and employers. A Co-Op is a paid, multi-semester program, where a student works full time within industry, gaining "on-the-job" experience and skill development. Co-Ops can be undergraduate to graduate level students, and some Co-Ops receive academic credit for completion. A Co-Op is different than a traditional Summer Intern, as a Co-Op allows more dedicated time for the student to develop skills within industry, and more time for the employer to watch them grow and adapt, and assess the talent for full time opportunities…when the student is ready. Co-Ops are particularly popular in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries. According to Veris Insights, 4 out of 5 pharmaceutical companies offer a Co-Op program, which is nearly twice the rate of companies broadly. The 27 Students have joined Vertex's Research, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, Communications and Legal organizations within Boston, MA, Providence, RI, San Diego, CA and Toronto, Canada. While at Vertex, Co-Ops dive deep into real projects, build a strong network of support and mentorship, develop new skills – including adapting to the world of work – and experience wrap around programming to make social connections with other students. Our student recruitment strategy, including our Co-Op program, is an intentional way we build our future talent pipeline. Where possible, we have hired former Co-Ops - once they graduate - into full time roles. The students bring fresh ideas and perspectives to our organization, and we take great pride in playing a role in their growth and ultimately their success as their careers take off – many times at Vertex. Interested in a deeper dive on Co-Ops? Visit the recently released Co-Op Program Handbook from Veris Insights #earlycareer #earlytalent #coop #boston #biotechcareers #vertex

6️⃣ And then we were 6! This week we welcome Catherine Grasso to our team. 🧐 As it's becoming tradition, she's answered the usual questions so we can get to know her a bit better: Q: What were you doing before hesti? Before joining hesti I was attending university in the US. I am going into my third year at Washington & Lee University in Virginia where I am studying Accounting and Law. Q: Why hesti? Working at hesti provides me with the opportunity to explore my passions for real estate and sustainability, while taking part in work that will make a difference. Not only will this experience be excellent preparation for my future career, but the work I am going to do will have real-world impact. I am also very excited to work at a start-up. At this stage in my life as I am beginning to piece together my professional career, the chance to view the inner workings of a company during its early stages will be invaluable in the future. Q: What do you like to do outside of work? Since this is my first time in London, outside of work I can be found exploring all of the tourist spots around the city and trying to fit as much sight-seeing as possible into the two months of my visit. I am also a football player so I am often going on runs through the streets or kicking around with friends. Reading is another hobby of mine so when the weather is nice I enjoy going to a park to picnic and read a book. I have been to St. James Park, and Greenwich Park, but if anyone knows of any other good spots let me know! Q: Any fun facts? I am a very picky eater but I am hoping to change that this summer! #summerintern #startup #team #WelcomeToTheTeam #PropTechInnovation #TeamHesti #CompanyCulture #PositiveChange

Accelerating growth & boosting confidence of early career professionals: interns, recent grads, < 5 yrs exp | Co-Founder, Kokoon 🌱 | Mentor & Advisor 👩💻 | Ex Amazon & WeWork
I went from intern to manager in 6 months. How? By being great at ONE thing. 1️⃣ Back when I started my internship at WeWork in the marketing team I knew - let's be honest - nothing about paid marketing, how to buy ads, how to manage a budget (oh VAT is a thing?) or run calls with prospective agencies. What I did know though was 💡 How to track all my work 🤔 Write down all the stuff I didn't know 🙋♀️Ask questions to people 👂 Listen in meetings and take notes 🤓 Be organised and thorough I did end up learning all about media buys, CPMs, and VAT. ✨ But that's not what got me noticed. I got offered a job that basically doubled my pay, in my dream team, doing way more than my marketing remit not because I was great at marketing (I wasn't), but because I was known for getting stuff done. 💜 I doubled down on being known for not dropping the ball, asking questions when I needed to, soaking up all the knowledge I can, and ruthlessly prioritising. 👉 What's the moral of my story? Never forget VAT when budgeting. 🤦♀️ But also 🥇 You can be great at your job, but what will get you noticed is your personal brand. Be great at ONE thing, be known for it. --- Oh if you're not sure how we actually teach this to early careers alongside all the skills we wish we had when we started. We're offering a FREE taster of our course: https://lnkd.in/dndFpDtr

Meet The Team Monday ✨ 1) How long have you been working at Run With It for? I started as an intern in October 2022 and was offered a paid position as an ‘Assistant Lead Tutor’ in January 2023. 2) What is your job title and what does your role require? My job title is ‘Assistant Lead Tutor’ and this requires me to support the Lead Tutor in the teaching sessions and also lead activities when required. For example, assisting by setting up activities, helping children who are stuck etc. 3) What is your favourite aspect of the job? My favourite part of the job is gaining the experience I need for teaching, as well as witnessing first hand the developments made by the children and the difference Run With It is making. 4) Best thing a young learner has said to you? Since working with Run With It there has been many amazing moments where a child has said something that has stuck with me. One thing that really stuck with me was when a young learner from Venn Academy said “Can I come back tomorrow?” This was after they had been reluctant to join in. 5) What do you like to do outside of work? Outside of work I love to travel and go on city breaks with my friends, exploring new places and meeting new people🌇✈️As well as this, I like taking my dog on long walks.🚶🏽♀️ #meettheteammonday #runwithit #education #gettoknowus
