This statement belongs on Tiktok sandwiched between the "flat earthers who think we didn't go to the moon" and the "Trump set up his own botched assination." Housing is just consumption???? What! No!!! investing in housing of course acts like other cash investment into the economy. This from someone who read Economics 🙈. Its an investment in our future also. We have a housing crisis if not a housing emergency. Private for sale housing to get planning consent HAS to deliver a proportion of affordable housing (contracted under the s106 as a form of land value capture) timed to be built to coincide (it cannot be left to last) whether that housing is subsidised rent or shared ownership. It also provides financial resources via CIL and other S106 benefits for the community. Then you have the societal benefits of a decent home and its impact on well being and the NHS bill. Is CIPA unconstitutional? In L'Occitane v. Zimmerman Reed (C.D. CA; 2:24-cv-01103), plaintiff countersued for alleged voluminous, frivolous arbitration filings. Plaintiff is also seeking a ruling that CIPA is unconstitutional. Per the notice of constitutional challenge just filed (Doc #16), "California Penal Code Sections 631 and 632.7, is an unconstitutional content-based restriction on speech, as well as an unconstitutional time, place, and manner restriction on speech under the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. Further, Plaintiff is challenging California Penal Code § 631 as unconstitutional because it is void for vagueness under the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments to the Constitution of the United States." "Likewise, the modes of sociality identified herein – of being with and for one another – draw from a wellspring of Black, Brown, and Indigenous cosmologies (McDowell, 2022). Meditating on George Floyd’s death, Minneapolis poet Keno Evol considers utopias as ‘an infinite activity of relation.’ This too, approximates what we mean by insurgent safety and abolitionist commoning: not a possession, or fixed set of ideas and practices. Rather, a commitment to the practice of non-carceral forms of relationality. It is our position that insurgent safety is not meant to be scaled up – it is not a 'one size fits all' approach – but rather will (and should) be practiced differently in Tucson, in Durham, or in Minneapolis. Jackson and Meiners (2011) argue that to dismantle the paradigm of public safety as carceral control, people must engage with and reframe ‘what it means and feels like to be safe’ (p. 271). Through their responses, survey participants challenge us to consider expansive understandings of safety that includes the sonic register of ‘good noise’ – laughter, play, the sound of neighbors taking care of each other and the land that houses them. Indeed, it is Flowers & Bullets’ capacious understanding of what safe communities look and feel like that makes their work critical. The placemaking activities of Midtown Farm and Cultural Center work, because there is a deep recognition and understanding of who the community is made up of, and what Southside and Barrio Centro residents need, as F&B reflects and responds to the beauty and strength of their neighbors."

What can we do in our communities to ensure the unhoused are not facing additional challenges obtaining permanent housing due to arrests associated with living on the street? • Communities should engage with local law enforcement to understand their policies and intentions moving forward. •Create and maintain relationships with local law enforcement. •Designate drop off sites for police officers encountering the homeless in lieu of arrest. •Address the lack of available and affordable housing in communities, along with access to funding and support. •Local social service agencies and CoC’s should continue to collaborate, partner, and focus on implementing action plans. •Expand shelter capacity. •Continue to make emergency shelters welcoming and ensure they are filled with necessary and engaging programming. •Inceased legislative advocacy.
