As we continue the #MedComms Day celebrations, we are excited to share Holly Joscelyne's experience working in the sector. Holly is a Senior Account Director at Cuttsy and Cuttsy and she kindly answered some questions about her career for us. ➡ How did you get into MedComms? I fell into med comms! I did a Business Management degree at university which included an industry placement year. Although I was unsure of my career path at the time, for my placement I landed a position in the communications team of a pharmaceutical company. In that role, I worked with an external agency who offered me a job after graduating. I dabbled in similar roles outside of healthcare but nothing gave me the purpose or motivation like this industry does - for me, it's so important to believe in what you do! ➡ What do you do in your role? My role is incredibly diverse, but essentially, I serve as the main point of contact for our clients. I listen to their challenges, collaborate with a talented team to develop solutions, and manage projects from initial scoping to final delivery. I also collaboratively lead our client services team, mentoring team members, supporting the implementation of new processes and driving business growth. ➡ What do you enjoy about your work? No two days are the same in agency life. It's fast-paced and challenging - which is exactly why I enjoy it! The variation in work keeps things interesting, but the most rewarding part is hearing the impact a piece of work has. From a simple visual that helps to explain a complex medical process in an easy-to-understand way, through to a far-reaching co-created educational campaign. Whatever it is, when I hear how it has helped and supported someone, it reminds me why I am proud of what I do! Making first contact with HCPs is usually a daunting task I remember when I was starting a new role as an MSL in a new therapy area. Was given a target list with names, emails and phone numbers to reach out First week, I cold called the Office Managers and most went to voicemail. I left a message and never got a response back. The few who answered were probably busy to listen to me and requested I send a mail. I figured out immediately this wasn’t working. Now I mapped out the physical locations of these clinics and went there without an appointment. I must say the results were quite different The reception was quite different and I started getting appointments lined up, and my emails answered. First face-to-face meetings really make a difference when starting off in a new territory, and I personally believe that hiring managers should he looking out for candidates who have a plan that works, rather than looking for “ready-made” contacts. How do you manage new HCPs or TAs? #MSLlife #MSL #MedAffairs

As HCPs head for vacation and practices slow down, how do you keep your pharma sales team motivated and productive? Here are 6 strategies to help your reps thrive during the summer lull: 1️⃣ Prioritize high-value targets 🎯 Focus on key accounts and decision-makers still working. Quality over quantity is crucial when access is limited. 2️⃣ Leverage digital channels 💻 Encourage reps to engage via email, LinkedIn, and virtual presentations. A well-timed digital touchpoint can keep you top-of-mind. 3️⃣ Plan ahead for fall opportunities 📅 Use this time to develop tailored action plans for Q3 and Q4. Anticipate needs that may arise when things pick up again. 4️⃣ Refine skills during downtime 📚 Turn quiet periods into learning opportunities. Focus on product knowledge, competitive intelligence, and consultative selling techniques. 5️⃣ Build relationships creatively 🤝 Find unique ways to provide value. Share relevant industry insights or clinical data summaries HCPs can review at their convenience. 6️⃣ Set realistic seasonal goals 📊 Adjust KPIs to account for the slowdown while still driving meaningful activity. This keeps the team motivated and focused. By coaching your reps to stay proactive and strategic, you can help them maintain momentum and hit the ground running in the fall. 🏃♂️💨 What's your go-to tactic for keeping your team engaged during slow periods? Share your tips in the comments! 👇 #PharmaSales #SalesCoaching #SummerStrategy #SalesLeadership
