On March 7, we co-hosted the UC Berkeley Tech Policy Summit & Awards Ceremony with the University of California, Berkeley, Goldman School of Public Policy and the CITRIS Policy Lab. Across various talks and discussions, speakers navigated the challenges and opportunities of #AI and policy. “AI is not a neutral technology,” said Gerard de Graaf, EU Senior Envoy for Digital to the US. “We want AI to work for our societies and support our values, not undermine them. ✨ Grateful and Inspired after Attending the Berkeley Law AI Institute ✨ Last week, I had the incredible privilege of attending the Berkeley Law AI Institute in Berkeley, California. It was an unforgettable experience to participate in discussions with global leaders navigating the complex and rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence. As one of the youngest participants and one of only two working in Canada, I found the insights and conversations to be both inspiring and empowering. 🌍 Key Takeaways: 💡 It was validating to see that the very issues I consider when reflecting on the legal implications of AI—such as safety, evolving risks, and the complexity of assessing risks across multiple verticals—are at the forefront of discussions among industry leaders. 💡 Safety remains a top priority for all, yet as AI technology evolves, so too do the risks. Risk assessment becomes an increasingly complex task as AI touches every facet of business, law, and society. 💡 Despite the high stakes, it was reassuring to see that everyone is responding to the same moving legal landscape and testing the resilience of their internal policies. We’re all learning and adapting together. I left Berkeley feeling not only inspired but confident that I can actively contribute to and influence the AI landscape. I’m excited to continue engaging with these critical topics and to share more insights in the future.
