Invitation to participate in the ‘Automatic software verification tools’ research project We are reaching out to you with an exciting opportunity to participate in a groundbreaking research project at The University of Manchester on the use or non-use of automatic software verification tools. This research aims to explore the use and non-use of verification tools by software engineers and developers when identifying or proving the absence of bugs in large software systems. The focus is on understanding how we can improve the usability of these tools. We are conducting informal interviews with software engineers and developers, guided by a general set of questions. The interviews will take approximately 30 minutes and will be conducted in person or online between May and June 2024. Your participation in this research project is a unique opportunity to contribute to advancing knowledge in the field of formal verification tools. Your experiences are invaluable, and your insights will shape the outcomes of our research, providing practical knowledge for academia and industry. As a research participant, you will receive exclusive insights and have the opportunity to discuss with our academic team during a findings briefing. Please contact us if you are interested or have queries regarding our research: [email protected] or [email protected] This project is generously supported by the Centre for Digital Trust and Society at The University of Manchester. Good morning, LinkedIn! I pray that everyone had a great weekend and productive Monday so far ☀️ I’d like to discuss my passion for #Cybersecurity and #DataAnalysis in a nutshell: My “obsession” started in childhood. I was a sucker for true crime documentaries and criminal justice, especially digital forensics. I had a great support system in the form of my church congregation, several close friends and family in law enforcement, the military, and software engineering. I ended up majoring in Criminal Justice in undergrad and finished my MS 4 days before my 29th birthday. Also, I taught high-school world geography from 7a-3p and completed accelerated/advanced MS homework from 3:30-9. I’m a firm believer that if you want something badly enough, you’ll do anything to make your dreams become a reality. The cybersecurity sector captures the ubiquitous nature of digital communications and e-commerce. I love continuing professional development and education credits to sharpen my skills and stay up-to-date on best practices. Lastly, I’m the only person in my family with an advanced degree! My husband and Mollywogg are my biggest advocates and I couldn’t have done this without them. I pray that the right people will see my testimony and give me a chance as a #FraudAnalyst | #DataAnalyst | or #CybersecurityAnalyst. Let’s get me hired! #CFBR #OpenToConnect #OpenForWork #MastersDegree #MasterOfScience #EntryLevel #CriminalJustice #DigitalForensics #HireThisHuman

💻🔍 Navigating the Era of Deepfakes: Upholding Truth in Software Engineering 🌐🔒 As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of technology, one of the most pressing challenges on the horizon is the rise of deepfakes. These sophisticated manipulations of audio and video content have the potential to blur the lines between reality and fabrication, presenting significant implications for truth and authenticity. In the realm of software engineering, where innovation and creativity intersect with ethics and responsibility, the emergence of deepfakes underscores the importance of upholding truth and integrity in our digital creations. As creators of software solutions, we bear a profound responsibility to ensure that our technologies are used ethically and responsibly, safeguarding against the spread of misinformation and deception. Moreover, the proliferation of deepfakes underscores the critical need for robust cybersecurity measures and advanced detection algorithms within software systems. As software engineers, we must remain vigilant in developing and implementing solutions that can discern between authentic content and deepfake manipulations, thereby protecting users from the potential harms of misinformation and digital deception. In confronting the challenges posed by deepfakes, we must draw upon the core principles of software engineering: innovation, integrity, and a commitment to advancing the greater good. By harnessing our collective expertise and leveraging cutting-edge technologies, we can navigate this complex landscape with clarity, resilience, and a steadfast dedication to truth. Let's join forces to develop software solutions that not only empower and inspire but also uphold the fundamental values of truth, authenticity, and trustworthiness. Together, we can shape a future where technology serves as a force for good, illuminating the path forward in an era of deepfakes and digital uncertainty. 💡🛡️ #Deepfakes #SoftwareEngineering #Ethics #Cybersecurity #Truth #Authenticity

From what I have learned, the rate of growth and progression in the technology and information security industries seems to correlate with the increase of individuals who experience imposter syndrome in these fields. There no logical way for humans to stay ahead of the advancements -- we aren't built to store mass amounts of information or compute at quantum speeds, but we can be aware, learn continuously, and use the tech to our advantage to help us progress. Psychology and philosophy may seem unrelated, but they connect at a higher level perspective. Moral of the story: you never fail until you stop trying. https://lnkd.in/eB8j3hHw

Meddling vs. Thinking (Cyber Cognition 🧠) John Sterman wrote a paper titled "Business Dynamics, System Thinking, and Modelling for a Complex World" about 20 years ago, in it he quoted the late biologist Lewis Thomas who said;. "When you are confronted by any complex social system, such as an urban center or a hamster, with things about it that you're dissatisfied with and anxious to fix, you cannot just step in and set about fixing with much hope of helping. This realization is one of the sore discouragements of our century...You cannot meddle with one part of a complex system from the outside without the almost certain risk of setting off disastrous events that you hadn't counted on in other, remote parts. If you want to fix something you are first obliged to understand...the whole system. Intervening is a way of causing trouble." 💣 Sterman went on to write, "For many, the solution lies in systems thinking, the ability to see the world as a complex system, to understand how everything is connected to everything else." 🏆 Being a better systems thinker isn't hard, you just need to think about how you're thinking and ask yourself some simple questions before meddling. 🤔 1️⃣ Do you stop to consider what the reactions to your actions (Relationships) might be? 2️⃣ Do you stop to consider what points of view (Perspectives) there might be other than yours? 3️⃣ Do you stop to identify the boundary of the problem (Distinctions)? 4️⃣ Do you stop to understand the parts that make up the problem and, what it is a part of (Systems)? If you got this far, it must of piqued your interest, so why not repost it ♻ or share it with a meddler....... 😲 #systemsthinking #cybercognition #dsrp #thinkbeforeyoumeddle

*** Belkasoft vision on the application of #AI to digital forensics: Post #10 of 21 *** LLMs are trained on diverse text sources, including scientific literature, fiction, blog posts, and forum discussions (see my previous post on that at https://lnkd.in/ehSK_8rt). The training dataset may also include software product manuals and #DFIR articles. Such extensive training enables them to skillfully leverage human language and knowledge. They can analyze, categorize, summarize text, engage in conversations, answer questions, and even reason. Now, how can large language models help with digital forensics tasks? Digital devices involved in criminal or #cybersecurity investigations typically include years of text records in messengers, emails, notes, documents, logs, and other files. If you feed your case data to an #LLM, it can help summarize conversations, pinpoint the topics of interest, analyze sentiment in the messages and emails, and more. It can be like a fellow investigator who has read all the text-based data in your case and is there to give you quick hints. #digitalforensics #WillAiReplaceMe #BelkaGPT
